No offense, but the hardware isnt really the problem. Why dont you ask them instead of a refund to get a reputable tuner shop in your area, and have them do a custom tune for your vehicle. Have them refund you the money for the tune you paid for and pay for the new one.

I cant believe people have not done this yet, at least this way everyones car will be set and can move on. I think custom tunes are a little safer, and you can get the most power out of your vehicle.

Carb compliance and warranty thats y more people arent doing the custom tune. No offense taken:tup:[

another thing is there is not a single tuner out here that'll tune our car/kit. :shakes head:

Doesn't Stillen use Uprev software for the ECU? Uprev has a list of tuners on their site. I think a couple are in Northern Cali. Have you checked this out?
UpRev - Engine Management

i checked already lol!

Zcargarage and GP Motorwerks is the only ones in my area. i brought my car to GP for a dyno and asked him can he do a custom tune already, his response was he probably can't tune that. i guess it's all too new and there is no base map for us and they don't wanna blow up our engines and get's blamed haha.

haha! that's pretty much considered cheating Stillen lol! you do know that Stillen and Uprev has partner up right. i'm guessing if we buy the license Uprev will know about it and will let Stillen know right away. don't you think?:hello:

Any tuner with any experience can tune this, its nothing special. If they say they can't tune it, stay far far away.

:iagree: I've got a reputable installer/tuner in MD if anyone is local to that area looking to get this done.

I don't aim to do this, but doesn't the hardware bear the CARB certification numbers on them? That means that you could theoretically get the Stillen tune and CARB certification and then run to an independent tuner to get it custom tuned. Is there anything I am missing other than the fact that it is cheating the system?

1slow370 09-27-2010 06:39 AM

the reflash stillen sends is locked though, on the uprev and stillen thing in the off chance that uprev is going to report cable purchases to stillen, have your buddy buy the cable and get it shipped to his house with the tuner license then grab it and run to an independent shop and get it tuned.

There is absolutely no way that uprev will report anything. They are under no legal obligation to do so and a sale is a sale. It is the car owner's responsibility to maintain the specs of the kit to comply with CARB. Stillen isn't going to refuse to sell you different pulleys after the fact or report you to the police for ordering one either.

Damn Cali laws lol! Oh wells, I'm hanging in there with Stillens program in hopes they'll come up with more perfection tunes for us.
