theres no way in hell that a SC'd Z is slower than a bolt on Z...when i test drove the GTM car i literally broke the tires loose in high 3rd gear and ran out of road...its MUCH faster than my nismo...no comparison at all...obviously whoever drove that car does not drive well..lol..traction might be the biggest issue here..

I have to agree there is no way a bolt on Z is faster then either kit. I think it is safe to say that Jnaut is a freak of nature when behind the wheel of a car. In other words the man has skills and his time should not be compared to other cars since everyone that races knows alot has to do with the driver.

yeah da man got skillz:tup:...i didnt want to contribute to any controversy here but to anybody who's thinking about going FI, let it be known that it is night and day compared to a NA Z...its not just a little bit quicker but instead an entirely different beast!!:icon17:

RCZ 11-12-2010 07:57 AM

I've been in Jnauts car going full bore and it feels stupid fast for NA, but my car is noticeably faster with the sc. Now when he gets that Single turbo setup going...god save us all.

....I can vouch for J's driving prowess....he gets it done.

Nitex 11-12-2010 11:43 AM

Right on guys, that definitely seals the deal. Its driver error that held the SC 1/4 time back. Keep up the good work fellas! I'm getting a huge raise starting Jan, FI here i come! :excited:

Edit - Driver error, and possible ambient temp issues and elevation..

I think we will see mid 11's when Jay gets blown. I think he's starting to blow himself soon, but has been too busy blowing others lately.

Man he is multi talented. Blowing yourself takes some flexability. And blowing others just takes some nerves.

RCZ 11-13-2010 11:56 AM

How do you think he got so good at shifting that 6MT on the 1/4 mile?

Nah, just 1 like the first time when I got tuned for the 9psi one. Should take about 3 or 4 runs to have everything dialed in and out the door.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to jump in here and give some more information for people.

First off, no one has had 8 tunes. There is not a single customer vehicle that has had 8 tunes. We started doing the initial tuning and we absolutely acknlowedge that we only recently began using the UPrev software so we tried a few different methods of tuning which brought us to R4. All of the first kits that were shipped out, shipped with R4. And, many customer's are still running R4 with no issues at all. Along the way we (as well as UPrev) have learned a lot about these cars, in particular, how different one car can be from the next. Also, we have learned that these cars react differently to different variables. If you see pictures of a vehicle with our supercharger and the fascia off you will see the Y-pipe designed intake. Then a silicone reducer coupler that leads into a polished aluminum intake pipe. On SOME cars, not all, if that Y-pipe is not perfectly perpindicular, like our instructions say, the MAF sensors will read differently and therefore confuse the ECU. However, this doesn't happen on ALL cars. Also, if that Silicone reducer coupler is pushed in too far, the released air from the pressure by-pass valve re-entering the intake pre-supercharger, can cause some turbulence, this can also confuse the ECU on some cars. While not affecting other cars at all.

We list detailed mounting directions on both of these items in the instructions, however we have gone ahead and made changes to the parts themselves so now they ship with labels stuck to them indicating the correct mounting orientation and/or the correct mounting depth.

Also, UPrev has found some glitches inside the FACTORY programming that we were all trying to work around. It wasn't until they built a special tool that could actually data log the ECU before we could fully see where the problem was originating from. As soon as we identified the issue, UPrev was able to make the necessary changes and recommendations.

Nitex 11-15-2010 01:05 PM

^^ thanks for the update Kyle.. Interesting that our cars can be so picky about placement and such. Your product is still under consideration!

shumby 11-15-2010 06:31 PM

under consideration or under construction. lol

Is anybody running Stillen Kit with LTH??
I wonder how stillen kit reacts to LTH or header/test pipe combo....

OKC370Z 11-16-2010 06:34 AM

I just now got around to loading the R8 tune into my '09 A7. However, so far I have only driven it to work this morning and the roads were wet and cold so I have not really got into the throttle. Initial dirving impressions is that the motor throughout the rev range is smoother. Other than that until I can dirve her some more I can't tell much difference. But then again my first tune, the R6 tune, worked well with the exception of a hot start issue and a little bit of tip-in knock when the outside air temps dropped.

As soon as I have put some miles on her with 91 octane (been running 93) I'll report back.

weiboy718 11-16-2010 09:22 AM

My car is the other way around. The tip in knock is more noticeable when the car is hot

G Fo12ce 11-16-2010 12:00 PM

Kyle, just throwing this out there. Maybe something like this can help with the angling and pipe reducer issue. Maybe UR can mimic this tool or work with AEM on something like thier ETI system.

So in essence, if you had called the first commercial released tune Prod 1 instead of Rev 4, you could have reduced by at least 1/2 the posts of the "offended few". Who says names don't have power! :D
