Yes, they said so.

Ah...the infamous..."they said so". Gotcha. That's definitely something to take to the bank.

Seriously, if someone knows where there is a picture or a post answering my question, I'd really like to be pointed to it.

Thanks.

I was trying to help you out. Terrible attitude. I understand I didn't point you to an exact post, but damn.

Zsteve 03-14-2010 08:45 PM

cant wait for GTMs new dyno to see how it does. Im very interested in Stillens IC too, to see how well it cools intake temps during hard driving.

OMG37 03-14-2010 11:50 PM

I can't wait to see my car again! :)

This weekend was absolutely gorgeous...I don't even remember what the interior looks like anymore. haha

Not sure. R&D is lots o' fun. :)

If I had to take a ballpark guess I'd say no later than end of May. It's not my daily driver so I have no need to bug Sam about the status of my car.

When it's ready he'll call and let me know.

What R&D are they doing exactly until the end of May? What takes 45 days when the kit has already been released and sold to customers?

Valentino 03-17-2010 01:18 AM

^ Probably R&D on other stages ..

RCZ 03-17-2010 07:43 AM

That's what I first figured, but they were selling the other stages online too with prices. That's what threw me off. They wouldn't be selling stuff that's still in R&D so that's why I'm wondering what else they are testing for a month and a half.

And before all the GTM fans get angry and call me a stillen fanboy; I'm asking, not implying. Maybe they have something else in the pipeline we don't know about that is being tested right now.

370zdub 03-17-2010 11:08 AM

^Stillen fanboy...

Just messing RCZ! As far as something coming down the pipe that we don't know about, I'm sure your thinking of something you would like to see?

RCZ 03-17-2010 01:57 PM

From GTM? No offense, but no.

I'm just wondering about what R&D these guys are talking about that's all.

370zdub 03-17-2010 02:22 PM

No offense taken, I don't really plan on doing F.I. to my Z so I could care less what SC comes out on top, I'm sure they will both have there pluses. I was just curious if you knew of something that could improve upon either the GTM or Stillen kits.

RCZ 03-17-2010 03:10 PM

I'm not going to get into that because then I'll definitely sound like a Stillen fanboy. Lets just hold off on anything until OMG37 gets back on and clues us all in.

370zdub 03-17-2010 04:40 PM

Sounds good man.

FYI...Stillen is still doing R&D on their kit and their's is out for sale as well. I believe I just saw a video with them talking about what they are working on just today.

RCZ 03-18-2010 10:17 AM

That video happened weeks ago,

so you don't know, OK.

More like I'm not a liberty to share everything with you, but you can think you want...sometimes you just shouldn't post what you are thinking.

This was posted by Kyle yesterday...

STILLEN G37 Supercharger Announcement!!! - Page 4 - MyG37

...and in his own words it says "updated with video" so that's how I took it...as an update of their kit progress. Sure seems to me from the video they are doing some testing...but I guess maybe they just took some old footage from way back and called it an update and posted it online yesterday...anything is possible.

What I should have stated from the beginning is don't make posts that suggest that GTM is selling a kit that isn't ready...and try not to post a reply suggesting that wasn't what you were implying in your post...people are smart enough to know better.

RCZ 03-18-2010 02:56 PM

Well, its impossible to ask that question without seemingly implying something considering which company's product I bought. So I went out ahead and made sure to avoid the drama that would have surely come otherwise.

If you are not at liberty to say, then its probably on the other stages. Its fine though thats all I wanted to know. I see that they aren't selling the other stages on their site yet, so there's absolutely no problem with that. Stillen I'm sure is also working on the other kits. Its going to be interesting to see how close the more aggressive kits end up being. Chances are they will have a larger spread than the CARB kit did considering they have much more freedom in the tuning / boost / supporting mods.

EDIT: wait a sec, they are selling the different stages already on the website....525hp and 550hp which they advertise as stage 2 and 3 in the description.

Not making any assumptions, just going to ask about it.

i think he meant it figuratively..........

no offense...........

2fast4thelaw 03-20-2010 10:03 AM

When I think of the word "retarted" the first thing that comes to mind is a young male (especially a white one) walking around in baggy cloths with his oversized pants hanging halfway down his legs flannel boxers hanging out and wearing a ball cap sideways with the air of attitude that he is the bomb!

OK, back on topic.

ZSteve, Shumby, and I have both asked this question and neither of us got a straight answer.

What kind of gain should we expect with the GTM kit with an aftermarket Catback Exhaust and Hi-Flo Cats? I don't know what exhaust Shumby is rolling with but I have all Stillen Exhaust mods except for the headers.

Pretty sure he answered ZSteve right here...I also see you've posted in that thread, so forgive me if I'm a little confused. That not straight enough for you?

I've been waiting for the CBE to be put on as well, so just like me, you'll just have to be patient.

It really depends on what you will do later upgrade wise. IMO if you stay stage 1 then GTM, if you plan to upgrade then Stillen may be wiser as you wont upgrade the SC just some other smaller parts. To upgrade with GTM I beleive you have to change the SC or part of it, Im not too sure. You need to do some more reading here and then make your decision. The GTM uses a tried a true FMIC where Stillen use a new water to air cooler that we havent seen in action yet. GTM is less expensive and the savings can be used towards the install price. Both will net about the same gains but I think GTM will be slightly higher when they show the new dyno with a CBE.

What are you looking to do with the car? Give us some more details about your driving/racing style or preferred type of track.

People who like the GTM one will say GTM and People who like the Stillen one will say Stillen. I personally chose the Stillen one because it uses air-to-water cooling, an easy/cheap to upgrade design and is undergoing extensive track testing for drivability and reliability.

Your best bet is to look at both company's releases and really do your research to see which one you like more.

sylenze 03-22-2010 11:35 AM

i would also look into the company's history with FI kits...

Best advice is hold on to your money and let other people go through the first run pain. What is 3 or 4 more months?

Are people really still hung up on the marginal performance differences in these kits? It is not like both companies are using the same supercharger and the gains are based on their engineering and tuning - where changing something like the CBE and getting 5hp means OMG I must have the GTM.. Change the pulley on the Stillen kit and then bam, out front again. I won't even go into the fact that these dynos are being done by the companies themselves on different cars on different days..
