I don't know much about SC in comparison to what I know of turbo'd vehicles but I do wish both of these companies the best of luck. The only thing that scares me about the Stillen kit is what I have read on their Titan supercharger from the Titan forums. I personally will be going TT if I ever do F.I. but I hope to see you guys that go SC post up great findings with them.
Great thread idea, subscribed. |
This is my current decision tree:

What if one has more top-end power (about +10 whp) but the other one has more mid-range (about +20 whp)? What do you guys value more?
|
low and mid.....

i'm more about the low to mid range, all about that 0-60 baby.
|
I zoomed a neon srt4 with a turbo upgrade I think, and I had the start put he caught up quickly, so I want the mid (50-90 mph), our low isnt too bad.
|
where did this happen and did you at least win?
|
He caught me and I had to turn right and he was going straight but he would have pulled on me more, thats why I think he had a bigger turbo in it cuz his low end wasnt there but the high end was. I dont think a stock one would pull that hard in the uppers as they only do 0 60 in 5.6 secs so he had some mods.
|
you probably should have stayed in a lower gear longer, thats probably the reason why.

Even stock the SRT-4's had no bottom end just because they don't get traction. When they were new i worked on a few, and they really woke up with just a boost controller on the stock turbo. Still felt like i was driving my sisters car with a turbo on it, but quick none the less.
|
So what would be some of the things we should compare between the two? So far Ive got HP, TQ, low or mid gain, stealth looking, price, psi, weight. Any other areas we should look at when comparing the two?
|
I guess we now also know that the GTM will have to change compressors to upgrade power but its stage one will give more low end tq. And the Stillen wont need to change compressors as it starts with a bigger one but will lose low end tq for future upgradeability. So 2 kits with different option scenerios, thats good so each person can decide what they want and buy according.

I wonder how much boost the VQ37 can take from a centrifugal SC reliably on stock internals without using race gas?

Im really waiting for the Stillen dyno on the Z to come out so I can see how their tq does. Right now I really like that GTM is over 300 tq from the 4K to 7K range and the Stillen dyno only hit over 300 tq at one point and was way under most of the time. I hope that changes on the new dyno on the Z. For me Im more interested in avg tq and hp and having 300+ for most of the rpm range is great.
|
Im using a Excel to map the differences between the two but I dont think I can post it on here as it messes up the format, is there a way?

here we go I think: If they are other areas I should follow let me know: Until Stillen shows the new dyno, the one they posted of the G is way below the GTM in all aspects.
|
good infow with the excel. Kinda interested in seeing the price for stillen kit.

Here is a comparison with the G numbers. I will put in the new dyno when it comes out.
Anyone know what dyno GTM used? Also I wonder how the GTM will change with a full exhaust and CAIs? |

So far the only thing Sam hasn't given you is a stage 2 or 3 dyno with any sort of HFC or catback exhaust modifications to the car...it's purely been stock. Stage 2, Stage 3 tuning is currently under development and test and you probably won't see dyno's with non-stock parts from GTM until those are finished. But I'd have to ask Sam this question specifically to know if that is true or not...I just know what he's working on now and it makes sense to continue with that work first before beginning to switch out stock parts and tuning with that setup. |

And laid to rest:
GTM 8psi http://i313.photobucket.com/albums/l...0PICS/DYNO.jpg Stillen 7.9psi http://www.stillen.com/media_files/s...arger_dyno.jpg I think we all know who the winner is here. |
Keep in mind, Red370, the GTM's on stock exhaust and Stillen has a cat-back exhaust. I'm sure we'll eventually see what happens when they're running a cat-back also.;)
|
Only time will tell, I just cant wait to see the stage 3 kit from Stillen, imagine, at 10psi? 500+whp EASY

Yep! We are...Both kits look great..Now for a side by side track day..;) |

when GTM adds its exhaust numbers will be about the same. The one thing Im curious about is still the Stillen cooler, with it being smaller, and I know cuz its water to air it can be, I just want to see if it gets heat soaked before the FMIC. I know FMICs do well but want to see some numbers on the Stillen cooler. I want to see some numbers on the GTM cooler too. Stillen was on the dynojet what did GTM use?
So if Stillen was to use 8 psi and not 7.9(?) how much would it gain? LOL. |
I wouldnt so much worry about the inlet temps, both will be fine, however, for you auto guys, i'd worry about finding a good transmission cooler because with that much power, it will be needed. And for everyone else, an oil cooler will now be a must.
|
and btw steve, we still doing the cats tomorrow? what did you find out from autocrafts?
|
Quote:
Yea I will now need a trans cooler along with my oil cooler. Red370 I will be at the shop at 8 am for the class and then see about the HFCs after that. I really dont want to attempt this unless you are there as you have done them already and I have to have them done by the end of the day as its my only ride. Think you can meet me there in the AM? |
text or call me in the morning, the job should only take us a few hours max.
