I was wondering about that and the fact that there's no support for them between their end connectors.

Hopefully by the time I finish reading this thread (I'm on page 17 or so) to the end I'll see an answer to this.

I assume this was referring to the oil filter relocation. You have to remember that the oil filter housing is now stationary on the chassis, so you have to have flex in the lines to allow the engine to move independent of the filter. If you have them mounted too rigidly you would have issues.
