seized turbo

Had a bp single turbo kit installed 4-5 months ago and driven it only 3000 km (Canada) and the turbo is seized. It won’t spin or anything. It was a comp 7676 grease lubricated (no oil or coolant lines) and not sure what to do now. Since it was a mid mounted turbo is the location of this style turbo improper and it’ll get too hot , or was it a lemon turbo, or was it going to happen eventually. Was looking for opinions on if I rebuild this turbo or change the turbo up to someone that’s oil cooled so it helps it keep cooler down there. (Air filter on the turbo was also starting to melt onto it)

Comp turbo? Sounds like you were lucky - never heard of one lasting that long.

Unfortunately it's a common issue with the oil less turbo.

Did you pack the turbo with grease prior to installation? It's only a matter of time before mine kills itself and I can add a mark to comps bullshittery.

Yes I had 8 pumps in day of install and it never got to the milage to pump it again for the first time… what do you guys recommend now to upgrade to, looking at the g series but I believe with the location of the turbo I’m going to do a oil pump and a baffle. Has anyone converted the comp to a different style before with the same location

Madwi and I both went with a boost labs oil/coolant turbo. We have all the build items on a list somewhere else... the real key is the oil drain flange you need a specific model, anything else is gonna be the lowest point on your ride by at least an inch.
