Forgive my ignorance...but what would the real deal be? Some type of stand alone system?

The real deal would be a solution that doesn't cause the cylinder pressure to spike. Like Rusty said, a simple ignition cut is all you need. But there are also stand-alone ECUs, like the Motec one Elmo mentions, that will do it properly.

Same for centrifugal supercharger? Should not use 2-step or flat shift with Ecutek??

Why would you need it? You have instant boost since you have a supercharger. Only needed for turbo cars.

I disagree but not important. Just would like an opinion based on your statement. I haven’t seen that mentioned before. Don’t wanna damage motor.

Was told to me by someone who is a heck of a lot smarter than me on the subject. I'll just leave it at that since you are the non-believing kind anyway.

I think his point was that if he says someone else told him that info, you're not going to believe it anyway. And that's coming from a guy who spent years of research and is now dropping real coin to build his Z right. If you don't believe him in the first place, then you haven't done your research

There’s nothing for me to believe or not believe, because he never answered my simple and honest question. I don’t know what his problem is. The part I didn't agree with is that cars with centrifugal superchargers don’t need 2 step or flat shift. And I didn’t even want to go there. Which is why I said that wasn’t important. Just wanted to know if the same applies to cars that don’t make boost like a turbos. Still no answer, so whatever. I’ll figure it out myself.

It spikes cylinder pressure. It’s been noted and documented.

Here are some other issues that would need to be address. It's on an RB26's but we have similar issues on the VQ37 oil pump that would need to be address. Scroll to about 8:30. Watch this channel. They have some great information to learn from. It can be applied to any engine build.

Ok. Good to know. But spooler specifically mentioned doing one or both would blow your head gasket.

“Bye-Bye headgasket on a boosted car.” Hence my question.

I think my non-boosted cars 2 step is set at about 2500, or something close to as low as it can go. With a centrifugal boost would be at 1 psi.

Is that going to blow a head gasket? I know I’m not the only person here who hasn’t heard of that, and would like to know if their Ecutek/Uprev tuned and boosted car is gonna let go because they used the 2-step their tuner gave them.

I doubt it would be in your case. But if you push it too far or to long you could have an issue. In my case, I am not doing it. Why do something that is questionable. These motors are not cheap to build. As far as folks having it with a stock NA motor. RICER!!!!!!!! Do whatever you want. We have enough Cupcakez's and Shadows around here. We don't need anymore.
