Me and a friend of mine were actually on the market for a SC kit and were very close to pulling the trigger on a Gamma Stage 2 kit in the coming weeks, and now I see this thread!?

Very interested in this one but don't really want to hold out forever when I can get the Gamma stage 2 rite now.

Thanks.

Hey guys I spoke with the owner of RJ MFG over the weekend. They have already posted up some pictures of a kenne bell 2.3L twin screw they had in stock on a VQ. As of right now I think the direction is headed into the realm of the positive displacement superchargers. They are looking into superchargers in the capacity of 2.3-2.9L. They are also focusing heavily on cooling for Both the motor and the supercharger. With these sizes we will see power levels well into the 600+ rwhp range. From my conversations and their initial measurements the fitment of this inside the hood might be doable but they are still doing measurements to ensure proper fitment. It's definitely exciting that's for sure!

They posted the pictures on facebook.

I like the simplistic approach to top mounted superchargers like Kenne Bell but their is major heat issues to deal with. They are popular with the Hemi engines for a quick, but expensive, additional horsepower solution. What the advertising doesn't tell you is that detonation from the heat is paramount and damaging. The tuning is set back so much that the horsepower gains are low for the money and the risks are high. Unless the engine is forged and heat issues are controlled, it may be a disappointment and some major damage. I don't think the VQ family of engines are up to the task.
This is why I favor air to air intercoolers when boosting VQ's to help control some of the heat issues.

I'm in favor of a well-designed unit that doesn't change the look of the stock engine compartment so much like the Stillen does. Plus...there must be some losses by y-ing together the intake? Prefer how GTM designed their kit.

Also, I know there are guys who love the whine of superchargers and the BOVs, but I'm in the camp for quiet operation. At least offer an option for owners who don't want to announce their car to others from a mile away?

My $.02- I like the Whipple charger as the most efficient option. I would think with the decent V depth on the engine, getting in there and maintaining the stock hood should be doable and paramount for me. not having to do all the manifold changes and plumbing of a turbo is appealing..all bolt on from the top with nothing hanging off the side. Whipple for me!

Good afternoon everyone!

Well we have made a decision to move forward with atleast one platform and possibly a second.

We are big proponents of innovation and this brings us to the platform we want to pursue first.

The platform we are starting with will be the Positive Displacement Supercharger kit. We are currently in the measurement and initial design phases. The kit will be scale able and efficient. We have already started planning around the Whipple 2.9L (W175AX) unit. This supercharger has been known to easily push 500whp and up to 900+whp with corresponding mods and fuel.

As stated above we are working on measurements now and are working with Whipple directly in reference to their supercharger. We have a good bit of space constraints regarding the motor valley and hood. We are looking at all our options to make the most efficient, compact and powerful Supercharger kit developed for this platform.

We are aiming to debut the kit in person at Zdayz 2017!

As far as cost we are looking to be sub $10k retail. Also as far as hood modifications it is too early to tell. We do have a company car here at the shop that we will be doing all the mock up and designing on. Our basis will be around the Stock hood. Aftermarket hoods such as the VIS terminator hood offer better cooling and a larger dome area for the supercharger.

So stay tuned! More news to follow!

How quiet is the Whipple compared to other units, and will the fitment allow for the stock engine cover/intake, for example?

It depends on the pulley setup. We are going to offer a 7 rib and possibly a cog setup. The rib setup will be more quiet and the Cog will have that crazy SC whine sound to it. I would bet it sounds better than the stillen kit which to us sounds like a failing power steering pump none stop.
