A lot of us don't do facebook. If you post anything there and not here. We would never know. |

Hood

I just ran across this hood and was wondering if it may have the clearances for the Whipple?

I really like that hood for this application. Hopefully it will work with the SC unit

ZDayZ is coming up. It's was to be done at last years ZDayZ. :rofl2:

Hey guys! Sorry I have been away... work, life, my car and designing the new hood in CAD.
Some new pictures surfaced this week on the supercharger kit. I also made a stop this week to RJM to finalize the pulley setup! The new design is super easy to install you guys are going to love it! So the updates on the kit development: 1. To reduce costs and to make the install as easy as possible RJM is going back to a single belt setup. This means the brackets and tensioner setup can be simplified and reduces the overall size of the kit making good development a lot easier. The tensioner will be about mounted as it sits now. There will be 1 - 2 idler pulleys added and that means two small brackets. 2. The lower plenum in the stack has been produced in billet and complete. 3. The fuel plenum is being finished tonight in billet. 4. The programming for the supercharger manifold, supercharger base plate and throttle body adapters are complete and just needs to be run in the machine. 5. The hood design is coming to a close and it is turning out freaking awesome! The most aggressive and awesome looking hood to date imho! I will post some pics! And yes we plan to have a few of these at zdayz. |

Not finalized but some teasers of the general design of the hood. Again not finalized we are looking at a lot of design ideas and cues.
|
Well...it certainly has plenty of ventilation.

I hope the final does not have that many vents! My 2 cents.
|
It looks like you put a lot of effort into the hood, and don't want to offend you, but the hood looks a little boy racer. I would try to make it a little more sophisticated. Not trying to stir the pot.
|
Like I said we are looking at different design aspects. The center hump won’t go away but vents and vent styles are still being worked through.
|
I'd keep vents to an absolute functional minimum for no other reason than to keep water out of the engine bay. Keep it simple aesthetically. If there's only one design being created, I'd imagine you'd want it to work on a car with the stock body panels since, taking an educated guess, most owners won't have wild body kits.
|
I like the center hump, but would not have any vents on it at all and keep some sort of vents on each side. I think the lines of the center hump would look really nice if they were clean. just my 2c.

For those commenting on the hood. We had already chose to remove the center vents. Thomas and I have really cleaned up the hood and it looks freaking amazing. Especially on the nismo! Like a mini viper acr!

Hood update! Thomas and I were able to finalize on a design. I now have the model in autocad and will be putting the final touches.

A cowl hood doesn't belong anywhere near a Z. It looks like Stillen and Need for Speed Underground thought they had a good idea so they decided to collab.
|
Nice work, but im not a fan of it sorry. The cowl part looks ok, but the big massive vents, eeeeekk! Maybe it good for function, but I personally would not go anywhere near it with my daily Z.
|
Serves its purpose, and looks nice doing it. I can dig it! It's refreshing to see something different.
Sent from another dimension. |
Looks Good! If you could only get the nose of that supercharger down another inch and lower the hump a little more. Oh well, designs are always a conglomeration of compromises. That front rib looks crooked though. May want to move things around a bit so they line up better when looking at it from the front.
You guys going to 3-D print it to make the mold? Maybe make an insert for the mold so you can make hoods with or without the vents. How about a rendering from behind the wheel? |
Just the same as how opinions go for hoods, wings, bumpers, etc when they are not even required... There will be no design that everyone likes. The moment you change the way a car looks, you create strong division. I do not envy anyone whos task it is to design body work. Personally I think it looks better than I would have expected.

I think it looks pretty good. Personally I would just cut my hood or run without a hood entirely.
|
Depending on results, I was totally sold on this kit until I saw that hood. I appreciate the work that went into it but there's no way I'd have that on my car. Hopefully someone else ends up finding a more sleak way to conceal the extra height.
