Fast intentions flex plate
Exedy clutch pack
Level10 valvebody
Level10 TQ converter
Transmission cooler

Have a local competent shop install it all. That is if shipping is an issue. Now if new gears need to be made we can handle that if it comes to it.

That's EXACTLY the point where I'm at right now. The only things left to do now is to talk to level 10 and ask about the valve body mods and determine if I can rebuild the transmission or find a shop that can.

I've rebuilt Dodge automatics to a performance level with clutch packs, valve body mods and coolers, etc. But the 7 speed looks a little more complex and requires a little more thought. I may buy a used 7 speed and tear it down to explore and play, just because I can

Wont cost that much.

Just get the LVL10 Rebuilt kit $790, then upgrade the Valve body and Torque converter $1.8K and a decent trans cooler, you are set to throw alot more torque at your 7AT box.

Hey RJM,

So with the 7 cores it def wont fit the stock hood - what about with less cores will that fit the stock hood and what power levels would that get me too?

In Australia its illegal to have a modified/carbon hood - plenty of ppl do it and get away with it (and get caught) as it means your car is unroadworthy and technically un-insurable.

Since there's a new lower plenum being machined is there anyway you could make a modified one that would allow the whole system to sit lower?

I'm guessing you already did that in the design phase - just thought id ask as i REALLY REALLY want this kit but with that big MERICA hood id just be asking for the cops to defect me.

Any thoughts?

I think you guys said a dual (triple?) pass heat exchanger would be used? Any details on the water pump or on options for a temp gauge?

BTW: To anyone living in a region that rarely drops below freezing (e.g., FL), you can run this with straight water all year round. It should keep temps nice and cool. Otherwise, you'll need a mix, as with the engine radiator.

I ran an overdriven roots blower that was really pushing the limits of efficiency with an A2W set up, and temps were not greatly above ambient. Maybe 10 - 20 degrees at worst after beating up on it on a dyno. It would cool right back down too as the water cycled.

For the Heat Exchanger, you will want to make sure there isn't a lot of openings around the edges of it -- air will tend to duck around rather than pass through it as you would want if there are any openings on the sides. Otherwise, should work really, really well.

I believe the hood bulge can just be a bulge -- the real cooling is all done by the heat exchanger. A vent to draw heat soak of the SC itself certainly won't hurt, but the IC cores, water pump, and HE are the critical items for keeping things nice and cool.

I really miss the evil whine of a PD SC -- and the near instant torque :yum:

This should make the Z feel like it has a V8.

Dropping 5-6k in your 7-A/T is just building up your foundation; Failure will find the weakest link & to maximize on performance/you can't overlook any components!

Lol. There definitely are some regulations there that i have never heard of. This one "kind of" makes sense. If I would have had this car (modified) when I was 16 to 20 there is zero doubt in my mind it would have been totaled in the first 3 months. :eekdance:

Mad Max must have been really pissed about this!

No blower sticking out of the hood and no high performance. No wonder he was MAD!

Kind of explains the movies, doesn't it?

Gotta love Australia

oh and everythings trying to kill you on land and in water but apart from that everythings great!

RJM if you can design a low profile "stealthy" hood i'll run the risk of buying this kit i want it that bad.

TopgunZ 01-13-2017 01:52 PM

Uhhhhhh.... I would just buy a sports bike. Or are those illegal there too? Lol

JJ's370z 01-13-2017 02:24 PM

Thats what im thinking

-But does reducing the number of laminova cores lower the overall height a bit?
