What would be some signs I should be looking for with stock plugs ....I run 93 octane the tune is for 91 octane......I don't get any pinging sound and from my data logs btdc is around 20-25 at 6k-7k rpms.........also ...this might be a dumb question but from my 350z I changed stock plugs to 370z plugs (one step colder) and was running 8lbs ...wouldn't the 370z be similar at 8lbs ...as far as plug heat range ?

Don't overthink this. There's a reason everybody who adds forced induction on these cars goes one step colder. |
Not overthinking ......but rather have more details than ....everyone does ...I understand colder plugs help with detonation ....but if the car isn't pulling timing ...then colder plugs wouldn't be needed ......I may be wrong but there has to be a point when colder plugs are needed and when there not needed. Plz correct me if met train of thought isn't right.
|
Every tuner I've talked to so far recommends the gtr plug one step colder, all reasons for it,i myself am still learning, new to this forced induction stuff,I guess I'll let you know how my car runs with these plugs and go from there lol

Here's how far I've got today,I'll be pulling intake next,injectors n plugs
Attachment 111838 I have no idea why my pics are so screwed up lol, good thing iam not working on car upside down |
Hey jinxx are you running Bosch ev 14s?if you are did they fit fine with the supplied harness connectors?
|
Yea the evo 14 650cc ..had plug and play pigtails with them .....it was a snug fit but with some tucking and jigsaw puzzle arranging I got them in

The 370z has a higher compression ratio than the 350 so it already needs the step down. Then when you toss more heat in there it needs another step.
|
Jinxx did you reuse your injector clips for the fuel rail with your Bosch ev's?
|
Quote:
I want to say I did but it's been two years |
I did.
YzGyz |
OK thanks guys, seems to keep them more stable but I have hard connectors not pigtails so I was curious before I dropped rail back in
|
No I didn't reuse mine .... Everything seem tight and per my install instructions it said they wasn't needed.....I did try to put them back but they kept popping off so I gave up with them

Nice ....I didn't install a fuel pressure gauge....I prolly have a few in my garage somewhere lol
|
Hey jinxx did you install 2.5' clamps on your intake joint that connects intercooler piping to the intake piping at rad shroud?

Here's a few more pics, will be installing thermostatic setrab oil cooler tommorow night

Looking good ... I would be sure to break apart the BPV and lube it very well. Mine got stuck with 2k miles on it and I had to take bumper off to get to it ..... Not sure if it was a bad idea o not but I used motor oil to lube it ... 10/30 synthetic and it's been good since.

Yea didn't have any at the time and read where some had used motor oil and claimed it to last a long time ....knock on wood .... I have a zclub meet today soooo it will prolly stick on me lol
|
Quote:
I use this on my BOVs every time I have the bumper off to clean the air filters. Amazon has it for about $15. |
Took the bov apart today and used a little hydraulic oil on it,worked great
|
I'm testing mine to see how long it will last ... 3 weeks so far
|
Jinxx did you use 2.5" clamps on intake pipes at rad shroud?no real room for them.
|
If I'm thinking right you are referring to the two clamps on the coupler connecting the small curvy pipes from intercooler to the pipe from the throttle bodies.....I did use the 2.5 and they are a pain to tighten .....well more so a pain to hold in place while tightening .... I have to snug them and use a flat head screw driver to push them in place ..tighten a little more push in place ....until it held and then tighten them down. I know I killed a six pack on those 4 clamps.

I haven't decided yet ... Was hoping to find a 88mm pulley first then Dyno .... GTM says retuning isn't needed because it's maf tuning and the maf sensors will adjust with the added boost ..... Everyone else say you need a retune soooo if I can find the pulley I'll tune after just in case.
|
Thinking of starting my car to move it in garage so I have room to remove fuel pump, everything is done on the car minus tune and fuel pump, anyone ever run there car just at idle boosted with stock fuel pump and stock tune?I could always push the car but am curious if anyone's tried this....
|
Quote:
Stock tune but the bigger injectors from the kit? Don't do it. |

If it idles at all, it'll be rich as hell.
|
I doubt it would even start

Getting restless lol, cars off jacks, finished installing thermostatic oil cooler last night, gona do fuel pump this week, just waiting on a reply from seb from specialty z,hoping they can help me with etunes so I can go with ecutek

Car is off the jacks, oil is in motor, hoping I can get my hands on ecutek for tuning
Attachment 112585 |
Quick update on my progress, got ahold of ecutek tuning,Sebastian at specialty z is working with me to get a final tune thru etunes, got my base tune from him, gona fire up the car tonight, have to say he's awesome to deal with so far and guys at shop are great help to,fingers crossed, gona test the car tonight at idle then once snow melts take the car out and data log:happydance:
|
Gratz hope it runs good for you .... I get my 85mm pulley in 3 days hope the 92mm comes off easy
|
Quote:
85mm will be some good boost,11lbs?can't wait to hear how it is with that pulley, did you end up dynoing with the 92mm?still on uprev? |
