Awesome. Thanks guys. Got me convinced. I can always add a block-off plate if I need to.

Smallish update.. I have been contact with JTRAN. They are closed for the holidays 12/25 - 1/5... But they will make an exception to tune my car for a $100 convenience fee. I am cool with that... If my job offered me $100 to come in on a holiday I would probably laugh, so I'll take it.

The total cost of the dyno tune (with fee) will be $750.. this does not include the Ecutek license since I plan to get that from Gamma as part of my kit. I am going to call Gamma later today to confirm the details with them and make sure they can get my the Ecutek license, etc.... I also still haven't gotten a response on the bunch'o'questions I sent (on Thanksgiving) them about their instructions so I will get an update there as well.

I am hopeful that Gamma will have their canned tune ready in time so we can at least get a look at it (and report back) at JTRAN before the dyno tune.

I'll update again later when I get in touch with Gamma.

Let us know when you schedule the dyno. JTRAN is less than 10 miles from my house and I'll come out and watch.

Party at JTRAN!

I called Amin at Gamma and explained what I wanted to do and he is cool with it. I am shipping the Uprev cable back to him and he is going to send me the Ecutek stuff. He is going to check on what happened to my list of tech questions and will get back to me.

I made an appointment with JTRAN for 12/28. If Gamma doesn't have a base tune ready, I'll have to get the car towed to JTRAN... which is unfortunately like 30 miles away from my sister's house. Might as well spring for a AAA membership.. probably can't hurt if I am going to DD a forced Z for a while.

This whole thing is starting to feel like a reality and I am getting pretty f*cking excited.

can't wait to see this !

I'm excited for you bro!

If they don't come through on the base tune I'd call JTran back and see if he can hook you up with a tune that would allow you to drive it over. It should be easy enough to do as long as you keep it in closed loop the whole drive over. That would also allow you to start it up and idle at your sister's house to check for leaks and such.

Try uhual, rent a pick up truck for $19 and a car trailer for anther $20. Much cheaper than towing.

That is an excellent point that I had not thought of. I emailed JTRAN to see if I can get on the phone with the tuner to discuss my options... I'll update when I know!

Good idea! Though I may just spring for a AAA membership.

The owner is the tuner, Johnny. He's tuned my car 5-6 times and always does a good job.

The service I am receiving from JTRAN is outstanding so far. Johnny is going to come to me (ON A HOLIDAY!) to flash the base tune so that we can check for leaks, etc and limp to the shop for the tune.

After I spoke to Amin on Thursday I still, unfortunately, do not have any answers to my tech questions yet.. now 18 days waiting =(. I will post some of them here for ya'lls input... at least, those that aren't directly related to the verbiage in the instructions. My BIL overnight'd the Uprev stuff back to Gamma so I am hopeful they will have my Ecutek cable and license to me in time for the build. I'm going to give them a call this afternoon to check up on everything.

That's a shame, but apparently Gamma did not retain any of the technical staff from GTM. So they're basically selling kits and they can't provide tech support because they didn't think to keep the people who know how all this stuff works on the payroll.

Luckily it cant be too different from the other twin kits on the market, so there's plenty of people here that can help figure things out.

Johnny is the man and you'll forever be part of the JTran family.

Oh and I agree with Chuck. Post your questions. There are a bunch of us with hands on experience with FI VQ's.
