good idea! I was thinking along the same lines. The real problem here is my laziness.

Which fitting do you mean in particular? The way mine is structured:

Hope that makes sense... I actually think its leaking at the pressure sensor but will need to set up a test to figure that out.

Impossible for me to say cuz I don't have a gamma kit.

I'm talking about AN swivel fittings. If you're leaking from a fitting listed above, use more teflon tape.

Gotcha... I got two swivel fittings for the oil lines themselves in that spot... but I did not put thread sealant or teflon tape on those connections - thought you were not supposed to use it on those types of connections since the tape could keep the machined surfaces from mating?

I might try it anyway if it fixed similar problems for you! =)

edit: I just reread and realized you were not recommending teflon tape for those fittings... just that they could be the culprit and to make sure there is no tension on them. I will make sure to test them as well. Thanks for the help, as always!

Yeah. Don't put teflon on the AN fittings.

It some times helps to loosen and retighten AN fittings. You need to knock off some of the coating around the sealing areas. When I install them I tighten them snug and then back them off a couple turns and reseat them. If you don't own a set of AN wrenches you'll need to invest in a set.

Small update... 1.5 years later and I am still getting great support from JTran too, who I've also come to find out is no longer accepting new work because they are so busy.

I've had a few small issues with the car since the install that I believe are tune related...
1) The idle still wobbles. I've done everything I can think of to ensure this is not installation related so I am hopeful it can be tuned out.

2) When coasting to a stop if I leave the car in gear and just hold the clutch in, the revs will pulse for a few seconds.

3) My fuel computer reports my gas mileage to be roughly half of what it should be... Johnny has already figured out the injector sizing for the fuel computer is incorrect.

These issues never got corrected because I drove 1000 miles home almost directly after my tune... but I was able to score an Ecutek remote tuning cable and dongle not long ago. I messaged Johnny on facebook this morning and he just told me to pull the ROM and send it over and he'll fix me up =)

Going to try and pull the ROM this weekend.. will keep those of you who are still following updated =)

Jayhovah 07-11-2017 09:52 AM

Update! I was back and forth with Johnny all day on Sunday and I could not pull the ROM file... after scouring the documentation i saw that the software will not allow pulling the ROM if the dongle ID used to pull the file is not the same as the one used to load it... Since Johnny loaded my tune at his shop, and I am trying to pull it with a second hand remote tuning kit, I can't pull it. Unfortunately Johnny no longer has the file either...

But, there is a solution. He is going to remote tune my car all over again... that is some next level customer service right there. Since the Ecutek software will also get updated to the latest version, I'll get traction control out of it too! Tentatively planning for Monday because I have the day off work already, but we are still discussing.

I'll keep you guys updated!

Tuning is moving along so far... So far done flashed three maps for logging sessions and now awaiting the fourth. It's kind of fun being more of a part of the process, even if I am just the robot driving the car.

You get everything sorted with your car?

It remains a work in progress. I flashed/logged about 10-15 ROMs yesterday.. but since I couldn't pull the old ROM and we had to start from scratch, we kind of took all day just to get back to where I was beforehand. Idle has improved but is not completely solid, pulsing on clutch-in while in gear has also improved slightly... this seems to be a problem Johnny might not have encountered before. I did get the traction control patch loaded though... during the tests runs it started to storm pretty bad so I can verify that the EcuTek traction control is far superior to the Nissan traction control.

He gave me a tune to flash for the week since my Z is my primary driver and he is going to make some more adjustments. I have another day off on Friday so we are going to keep working on it.

Can't say enough good stuff about JTRAN... did my original tune 18 months ago and is no longer open to the public, but still putting in a lot of hours to make sure I am 100% happy. I will keep flashing and logging as long as he want's to keep working on it.

jwick 07-18-2017 12:37 PM

Johnny is the man! He's tuned my car multiple times.

Jayhovah 08-02-2017 11:59 AM

Non-update Update:
I am not sure what's going on with JTRAN... the last correspondence I had with him was a couple of weeks ago with an email saying he would send me an updated map that evening with the plan that I would flash and log the next morning... then radio silence. I've sent a few emails and a text since then with no response. Seems odd. Maybe he's just tired of my pestering. Anyhow.. at the moment I have what I believe to be a good tune with much improved idle and traction control... Unfortunately does not include a valet map..

I guess I will just try and ping him from time to time to see if I can get his attention.. I assume he is just busy, but it would be nice to get some kind of notice.
