We didn't have any luck SD tuning with Ecutek but the MAF tuning worked fine. StillenZ84 has SD tuning working with his level 10 trans and that's strange because Level 10 says it's not possible. I can think that shows Sebs skills at tuning but if he's not doing it the MAF will be easier. Level 10 said set all positive trans settings to +75 and don't mess with the negative numbers.

StillenZ84 02-16-2016 01:29 PM

Right. Didnt add that my comments were only if you were going SD. This is the only time that people have had problems tuning with Ecutek. You don't encounter problems tuning through the MAFs so I just assumed dave was talking about SD. Pat was pretty impressed with Seb that he was able to get the trans to work right but Seb has tuned many Fast Intentions upgraded transmissions with no problems at all so mine wasnt the first upgraded trans he has tuned on SD but I believe it was the first Level 10.

At the risk of sounding stupid - why would any kind of transmission be incompatible with SD tuning? The two do not seem related in my rudimentary understanding of the topics.

Pat told me that when you SD tune the car doesn't read the torque table the trans runs with correctly. Re said the line pressure is high at idle then drops when you hit the gas, that's the exact opposite how it should work. Seb clearly knows something a lot of people don't. What Pat described is exactly what mine did, the more you hit the gas the more it slipped.

so main reason you've been having all the issues you thought were supercharger slipping, was the trans?

No it wasn't slipping, I decided to do it because I was already pushing more power than it was rated for before we started this. The fluid that came out of it had so much clutch material in it that I would guess it would have started slipping soon.

So here's a question why not rent a dyno and let Seb remote tune the car like he did for me? I rented the dyno and sent him logs, and the dyno outputs while talking to him on the phone?

I talked with Seb yesterday and that's what I am doing after my supercharger is done getting rebuilt.

The shop that my car is at is the only Ecutek dealer around here, his good friend is tuning the car. If I have any thing that doesn't look right I will be having him double check the tune.

Sounds like a plan, but you don't need a ECUTEK dealer. I use a dyno that doesn't even tune imports. LOL

I just read all 97 pages of this thread...

I feel... I don't know what I feel, I just went through every emotion in 2 hours and I feel like I never got anywhere!!! I just started doing the conversion on my G37 and now feel like I should just stop! lol Great work guys but wow the headaches

Yes I'm just going to wait till Topgunz stuff is out.

I would love to go do a track day in Atlanta when it runs again! We pulled the supercharger and the impeller shaft was bent so my pipes are full of fine aluminum dust. I have them all off and am taking them apart right now to run them through the parts cleaner (dish washer) before the wife gets home. I have a new V3 Si blower inbound and the old one is going back to Vortech to be rebuilt as a V3 Si. We are hoping this will come to an end in the next couple weeks.

Numonik, Topgunz kit will make this a lot easier of a process for sure.

She'll never know, but, what's a few extra particles in the Hamburger Helper any way ???

BTW ... good choice to go with a new V3 Si
