I have a new V3 Si blower inbound and the old one is going back to Vortech to be rebuilt as a V3 Si. We are hoping this will come to an end in the next couple weeks.

Numonik, Topgunz kit will make this a lot easier of a process for sure.

So the V1 is a no go???

I want to bad but I'm afraid to do it with this shop, I don't want the car there 6 more months. If one of you does it and it works I'm not afraid to spend more money! If that happens I'm flying Topgunz down to help me do it, I'm done with shops for a while. I hate working on cars but I'm even prepping my car for the track from now on.

im going to see if I can track down a blown up one, see how it fits and move from there.

So I was talking with vortech and they said they don't produce the v1 anymore. ???

That's news to me, they still have them in their site.

I asked them when I was talking about my rebuild. That's what the guy told me. I was quite confused myself cause yes it shows on their site.

Even if that was true, you want the v2 anyway. I did some more investigating and the v2 is the ticket.

Pauly Z 02-23-2016 08:09 PM

That's actually what the guy at Vortech said. The v2 is the same as v1 except it has helical gears and not straight gears

I just realized I had a 2.75" supercharger pulley on the car. I ordered a 3" from a very big company and didn't notice they sent me the wrong one. We over spun the supercharger by close to 3000 rpm.

:icon14: DAM! Will they foot the bill on a fix?

JWillis72 02-24-2016 03:26 PM

Nope, I'm getting the correct pulley but that's it. Truthfully I can't say for sure that was the problem, we didn't run it all the way to redline so it was close.

i found a V2 here in Edmonton, 700$ but the volute tip is kinda crushed. (easy to fix)

Guy got into a front end accident and the blower took a little bump.

I can weld up the volute and send it out for a rebuild.

I told the guy i want to see if it will work with my bracket before i buy it.

Hes stoping by tonight, we will see!

Wait, wouldn't we want straight cut gears over helical?

Pauly Z 02-25-2016 08:57 AM

Helical gears are just quieter

Straight cut chatter at idle and get a little whine to them at wot, but the whine is drowned out from our exhaust.

That's pretty sweet your trying this Evo!
