Good job ct.

Just want to share. The small shelf people talk about is really not noticeable at all.

Having had a play with the EVO-R DRL I started making some lenses.

http://imgur.com/zRfEmcY.jpg

I sanded them down and primed them to get rid of the manufacturing injection mould marks but ultimately decided they weren't quite for me.

I have treated myself to a pair of these - and a much lighter wallet.

Just waiting for the rear to come back from paint next week and i'll install the rear and put the DRL in. That will take some wiring via relay to get them working using the auto lights feature. Plan is to have them on with the ignition and off when the main lights come on automatically.

http://i.imgur.com/C42uHgc.jpg

I also have these ready to go on.

Are those oem nismo DRL's?

too tall 04-15-2016 08:15 AM

Photo's 3 & 4 are, yes.

Ugh....the nismo DRLs look so much better than anything else on the market but don't know if I can justify paying so damn much for a set

too tall 04-17-2016 02:46 PM

Fitted the DRL this weekend. pretty straightforward to be honest longest part was running the wiring which was pretty simple.

There is no harness to fit and DRL on the 2012 370 so had to wire them in manually.

I worked out a circuit using a normally closed relay. Power from a 12v source when then ignition is ON will activate the DRL, they will remain on until either the sidelights or main beam are turned on. This also works in the auto position.

Testing the circuit.

All was good so onto the physical part....

Removed the bumper.

These are the location points for the Nismo DRL. 2 x push clips and 1 x spring clip.

The yellow circled portion is from one of the plastic inserts for the Nismo bumper that acts as a guide.

I didnt take any pictures of the actual wiring install (boring) but the 12v feed for the ignition on was taken from the fise box in the engine bay and the pin circled in red.

12v to trigger the relax and switch off the DRL when the main beam or side lights come on was taken from the side lights. There are two wires black/yellow and green. The green wire is the 12v.

The final result showing the DRL on and off with the side lights and/or main beam on.

 Thanks for posting too tall. I will have a drl someday but I would rather spend that kind of money on something else like on cooling.

Don't you guys find that extra plumbing quite useless?

OptionZero 04-17-2016 06:39 PM

I can't wait for someone to make some brake ducts like the ones available for the older Nismo front

and for someone to try the Varis intake ducts as well

EDIT: Some german racing team did it

patabq 04-18-2016 08:03 AM

If I do the conversion, I have not found a good way to attach my brake ducts to the DRL holes or front area like on the standard nose. I saw this pic a couple months ago and decided I would use that 4" inlet necked down to my 3" ducts.

TooTall - I may be PMing you for some help on what to tap into to get my DRLs wired up. I'm trying to make it so that it's very easy to disconnect so when I take the bumper off, I don't have to rip out or cut any wires.

This weekend was all about the Z - Put the new fenders on, baked and painted the headlights, and put the new front bumper on. Still need to wire the DRLs, put the headlights back in, and put the sideskirts back on. Next weekend the new rear bumper and wing go on! :icon17:

I used some of these to be able to disconnect the DRL.

Electrical Waterproof Connectors Set 1 2 3 4 5 6 Pin Way Superseal Pair Car Boat | eBay

The NISMO lights have a connector on all ready but i couldnt source the female end to use on the loom I created. So i removed the OEM connector and used the ones linked above.

Which DRL do you have?

I have the EVO-R DRLs....so it's just a red & and black wire that I have to connect (positive/negative)

too tall 04-18-2016 09:21 AM

Ah ok. The theory is the same, just add a waterproof connector to the EVO-R DRL and you'll be able to disconnect them from your loom if you need to remove the bumper.

The connectors i linked above are the exact ones I used, I had to order mine online - but i'm in the UK.

Does the rear bumper come with the read stripe? Mine's all painted one color and I want to get the same red on there

cooltoy 04-20-2016 11:05 AM

Bumpers come unpainted. So you would need to paint the red stripe, if you want one.

Damn, I wasn't thinking about it. Any matching Vinyl out there I can buy?

cooltoy 04-20-2016 11:42 AM

Probably. Check out a shop that does that kind of thing. I am sure they can find a vinyl close enough. Do you have the red inserts in the front? If so, just match to them.

Alright, thanks man

too tall 04-20-2016 12:47 PM

Give me 5 mins I'll post pics of the rear.

too tall 04-20-2016 12:58 PM

Here's the rear as it comes from Nissan.

http://i.imgur.com/C42uHgc.jpg

Point to note. It does NOT come with the towing cover. You'll need to order separately.

Was going to post today anyway but I picked this up from the shop today.

I agree - in the back, its so thin that you won't be able to tell if the nearest match isn't perfect. Get a good wrapping place and you should be good.

too tall 04-21-2016 10:38 AM

It's on!

I'm really happy with it, transforms the car!

In my opinion you do not require any thing that is not already on the car to install this - just the bumper and the tow cover.

Had a set of mirror covers painted too.

I know it wont be t everyone's taste and not all will agree but I've put the NISMO badges on, I imported them from america a while ago and while I've debated whether to put them on for a while, I decided to go with. I think it finishes the rear nicely and I don't have to worry about filling a hole in the front bumper.

Excuse the crap pictures, I was in a rush to get everything done and get to work.

Last job to do is add some black to the rear of the skirts where it should have been masked off.

too tall 04-21-2016 10:40 AM

I was asked a few days back what is needed for the rear conversion. In my opinion - just the bumper and the tow cover. Everything else can be taken from your old bumper.

There is a small gap between the bottom of the bumper and the non Nismo arch liners but Its very small and personally I wont be adding the arch liners.

cooltoy 04-21-2016 11:14 AM

I think you need a pre 2015 Nismo wing to make it perfect.

too tall 04-21-2016 11:20 AM

I've been thinking about the wing. Possibly a carbon duckbill of early Nismo. I dont want to imitate 2015 exactly, just body styling wise to me it is exactly what I want.

One of the main other reasons is fitment. I'd like to be able to return the car to stock if i chose to sell the parts off. So any spoiler has to use the OEM location points.

cooltoy 04-21-2016 11:59 AM

Pre 2015 OEM NISMO uses sport spoiler holes.

There will be a gazillion holes and the duckbill will not cover/use all of these holes. Work will be required to plug what you will not use if you decide to go with the DB spoiler.

Here's how mine came out. Done.

I had been having browse of your build thread earlier.

You got any plans to fit any DRL into the bumper?

LMBmikeZ 04-21-2016 01:56 PM

Here's a few of mine with the older Nismo wing (not OEM but a seibon CF replica)
