To Equalme... Now, your post (2nd one up) answer s my question. When the hatch is open the cover goes up with it. When the hatch is closed the cover is below the line of sight from the mirror. I apologize for my questions not being clear.
Thank you very much.

Rolf.

Like everyone said, the way the clips are designed is that when the hatch is closed the cover is in the horizontal position and does not block the glass. But of course when you open the hatch, the cover follows the hatch lid, and of coirse blocks the glass. But how often would you drive with with the hatch open? Never.

Default Tonneau Cover

Thank you both so much. Without ever seeing the cover, it took a while for me to get it. I did not even know the right questions to ask.

It's actually a great idea the way they designed it.

Most cars it is a hard piece that hangs there and if you need to put something in the back that is taller then the cover, you have to remove the whole thing in order to fit that item. Eventually you get sick and tired or removing it, then putting it back, then removing it. So you end up throwing it somewhere in the garage. With this thing it you just unhook it from the hatch and let it retract. Stays out of the way and in the car.

Rather than start a new thread, I am going to post in here to comment on my recent experience with a new tonneau cover. I got it from a local guy that did not use it, as his sub box interfered with it.

I have never previously had any issues with my 2011 hatch springs in over 4 years of DD use, but as soon as I installed the cover, I started having problems. If the cover is installed, the latch does not fully release ~50% of the time (ala the 2009 TSB regarding this same issue). When the cover is not installed, the hatch release works 100% of the time. FWIW, I attempted to remove the hatch weight several years ago only to find that my Z did not have one.
