Default No Key error

I just replaced the batteries on both my key fobs as they had died over the winter. My car still has the problem of the No Key error coming on whenever I try to hit the start button with the fob in my pocket. When I insert it in the fobgina, it starts up no problem. I can also walk up to the door to unlock it so I know that the car can sense the key. Why will it not start?

this happens to me when it's really cold out from time to time. i just try and unlock/lock the doors with the fob from inside the car, then it usually works.

I'd try replacing the fob battery with a known fresh one. Since everything else seems to work, there's a good chance that the problem is in the car but batteries are cheap and easy to replace.

might also want to check to see of the module in the center column is plugged in. there is a key sensor in there and if it is unplugged it will not register a key present so you have to use the fobgina. here is the link to the thread that shows a picture of the module and i posted a diagram where it is located.

What it's this plug for?

the module is called inside key antenna.

Thanks so much! I started to take the center console apart. I got no further than taking off the panel around the shift knob when I noticed 2 cables completely unplugged just in front of the shifter. I plugged those 2 back in and like magic, I could start my car again without sticking anything in anywhere. Now it makes me wonder what the other cable was and what hasn't been working for awhile...

Hello Sir

I had the same problem ...
I first used a cheap battery (from China )
The problemn was still present. (The Battrie probably had too little power)

After that I used a good quality battery (Duracell)
and the Trouble was gone.

Hope this helps you?

Ivo

Thanks, but the batteries were fine. I had 2 cables unplugged and one of them must have been going to the Key Antenna.

Good thing it was only a cable being unplugged. This was a symptom for me and the inevitable ATTENTION!! 2009-2010 owners with steering lock/wont start issues

I was on my way to get a new battery as that what it seemed like the issue was. Went to get back in the car and bam! Wouldn't start.

There were actually 3 cables with quick disconnect fittings in that area. 1 was the one that goes to the hazard/s-mode buttons near the shifter. 2 go up towards the stereo area. It seems that one is the key antenna and the other is ____?
