There is not a direct connection between the starter button and the engine. The button is depressed and the signal goes to the computer. The computer then checks to see if everything is a "go" and then the signal is sent to the starter. After about one second, the car starts. Mine does this as well, so I don't think there is a problem or anything that you can do to speed up the process.

So, the speed of light is too slow?

The car and your key-fob do an encrypted RFID handshake. This involves passing of public/private key pairs with known lists of "correct" challenge/response pairs. This involves quite a bit of back and forth between the key and the car, as well as range verification and such. This isn't the entirety of the extra time needed, but it's a chunk of it. I'm sure the rest is the ECU checking vital sensors/systems before startup.

It's a disadvantage to not having a physical key. With a physical key, you don't need encryption, as the key itself serves as the same layer of protection as the encryption. Thus, physical key = much faster.

No way! ...... I want my money back!

I've actually let the clutch pedal out too soon before b/c the car hasn't finished cranking and have to start all over again. Not a big deal but something I've noticed.

No issues on mine, unless I let the clutch out too soon. Oops.

You going from a cold start, from the accessory or the on position? Which one did the commercial have, there is a difference
