Brake lights work but tail lights do not....need some help

Did they give you any indication as to exactly what is meant by "a blown relay"? Was it the coil or the contacts?

I'm not sure the body shop harmed the relay. I haven't looked at the wiring diagram, but I can't think of anything they could do at the rear of the car that would affect the relay coil and the fuse should have protected the contacts if they shorted the wires.

I didn't talk to the mechanic just the person in front, but he said they had to replace the actual relay under hood (i'm assuming the DTRL relay by the brake fluid)and that it must have blown when they were taking off/putting on the rear bumper by grounding it or something.

in all fairness, my tail lights did stop working after i got my car back from the body shop. the dealership fixed it with no hassle and for free, so i have no qualms with whatever they wanna say. lol
