Evo-R side blades

Yup mine are floppy as hell. I had a shop install it and they used 5 screws + 1 beefed up screw on each side, they didn't even use tape.

Yup mine are floppy as hell. I had a shop install it and they used 5 screws + 1 beefed up screw on each side, they didn't even use tape. I can wriggle them by hand. So far it's held up fine though after about a month of passengers kicking it every now and then..

Floppy with some pressure applied

I installed mine myself using self tapping screws and 3m tape...about 6 screws per side..

However a shop remarked that my blades were shorter than someone else who had them. Mine are carbon Fiber and I bought them used from a member who said Shine Auto made them, which at the time, I wasn't sure about as I never hear them making blades

Then I had an RX-7 guy come up to me and say that they might be the FEED CF blades for an RX-7....lol.

Is it possible that you have the ones that incorporate the mudguards at the front?

Mine are the same way- short at the end like that.

IMO, it doesn't have anything to do with the mud guards as the contour of the addons follows the bottom of the stock skirt in such a way that if you want them to line up, you get that result.

If you moved the skirt back, the top of the addonwouldn't line up right with the bottom of the stock skirt.

It's a 370z part from what I can tell- they match up with the stock skirts too closely to be a part for another car.

So today I took mine off and remounted them. Here's what I did:

Cleaned them & the side skirts real well. Then put 1/2 wide 3M tape ALL THE WAY down the blades. Lined them up with the screws and stuck them on. Then I removed the screws and put a dab of silicone on each one and put them back in. Kind of a Loc-Tite kinda deal.

Now they're probably twice as solid as they were - really don't move with just hand pressure. Couldn't use then as running boards or anything, but I have a lot more confidence in them now. Feel like part of the car vs. something just somewhat attached.

I'm interested in the evo R side blades once my car has been lowered but I also daily my car in the winter... being in Toronto snow isn't a big deal but my concern is drilling into the actual body of my car and perhaps opening myself up to areas of future rust with the installation process.... thoughts?
