Default Plastidip explanation

Just curious about the differences between plasti dip and paint.

I see guys on here using plasti to paint their emblems while they are still in the car.
Aren't they worried about overspray and how much time do they spend on taping off the painted surfaces on the car?

Another guy plasti his own nismo wheels to see if he is gonna like them before paint...

Is plasti a temp solution and is it hard to remove ?

Forgive me if this is in the wrong thread .

Plasti-dip is temporary and pretty easy to remove as long as you apply a thick enough coat. It's basically rubberized spray paint, so a clean application should peel right off.

This. Though as I've learned the hard way, if the plasti dip is in an area that gets a lot of heat it gets harder to take off. Was trying to take it off my wheels, but some parts of it would not peel off easily. Gonna try to use goo gone or something to take it off. Planning on using paint this time around on my wheels and it should come out much better looking than before.

As far as overspray is concerned, if you mask the areas off properly it shouldn't be an issue. The way to do the emblems is to leave some area around them when your masking off. Then you can start peeling from the area that was taped off and the plasti dip should come off cleanly around the edges of the emblems.

paint is better, but plastidip is better. they both have its own advantages.

just be sure to cover your surroundings (including the rest of your car) when plasti-dipping. i paint parts in my garage often but this was the worst overspray disasters in my garage. just to mention i dont like any contaminants on my cars...

Search DOES NOT ALWAYS WORK! Im sooooo tired of people complaining about searching...if you don't like the post or thread, then DONT POST! most of the time people do search and find nothing, I dont even bother creating posts becuase I know there are going to be search babies crying about a thread that was made for a hidden thread back in 2009 ...here is how I search, I go to Google and search and it comes up with better results for threads on the370z.com than using the search feature here! I usually get very poor results on a search here.

Hey, I'm that "Nismo Guy" that did his wheels. I did mine in white and I took it off in a week because I want to paint my wheels now. I think PlastiDip is good in SMALL doses. So, want to do your badges? Go for it! Want to do your wheels? I wouldn't recommend it. I would only recommend doing your wheels just to see if you like the black or white color (or whatever color you choose). I have a few pics of the removal, I'll post them up when I get home from work.

PM me if you have any other questions man, I literally did it last week and it's fresh in my head still!

Also, watch the video I linked below... it may answer some of your questions. Anything else, ask away!

This Plasti Dip product is Awesome!

I like how you complain when someone gives you a real honest answer yet almost all of your posts are negative and bashing other members rides.

The advanced search uses google and has always given the answers i'm looking for, but to each their own.
