So has anyone actually done anything significant in regards to getting this issue exposed? Maybe it's not happening to "all" 2009s and early 2010s. Just a thought.

I'm in the same boat as you are Dwight. '09 w/ ~23k miles, but I would not be able to bring myself to take that tact with my dealership. I am, however, going to ask that they keep one in stock if possible to minimize my downtime.

Yeah, it's not foolish. I'm at 43,000 on my 2009, I'm thinking of doing the same thing. It's a tough pill to swallow though.

Thanks for the words of support. I really thought long and hard about spending that kind of dough, but the fear just over whelmed me. I really love driving this car and am very impressed every time I get in it.
![]() I have only had the Z for a couple on months now. Found this garaged, PG, 6MT, touring edition, in Sacramento area over the holidays. Except for a little road rash, its in exceptional condition. Have Dynamated the hatch and doors, and done a few other minor mods. |

yah, it was for me too... but it's insurance and you can sell it when you sell the car. so that's a good thing.
i recommend that you guys replace the security screws to regular screws so that it will make it real easy to replace in the field. (get the screws with the regular nut/hex head (now the allen-key hex) so you can keep a simple wrench in your trunk) even if you have RevD, i would still keep your working RevB in the trunk. |

i didn't do much thinking actually...
if i got stranded for reasons that i knew, i would be kicking myself so it was an easy decision. but the 500 wasn't just pocket change though. that's like 50 charburges and cheeze fries...

The question looming in my head is this. Has the Rev D unit solved all issues or can this one fail too???

we are finding a few with problems on RevC... RevD is current but i dont fully trust it either. so, what i recommend is you buy RevD install it using regular screws, but keep your old but still working lock in your trunk + wrench. |

The change is that there is no actual lock for the steering column.
