Help! Just bought 370z Needs Paint Work!

I got my car just 3 days ago and the dealership said they clear coated the car. Can't find any evidence of a fresh clear coat job - no paint smell, I checked all the panel gaps, under the weather strips etc, no evidence of fresh clear coat. They say they do that because sometimes when the car sits for a long time waiting for a customer to buy it, the factory clear coat gets weathered and the only way to restore it is to recoat. Is it possible your dealer applied a fresh layer of clear coat before they did a good job buffing out the weather stains and in so doing, they locked in the marks for good?
