Default Rear Hatch Release Issue

Anyone have any problems with the rubber rear hatch release button.
I ask because when i went to open the rear hatch i could fill the switch
crack or break in to. And i didn't use much pressure when i pressed on it.

Anyway switch has been ordered but the dealer claims the entire rear bumper
will have to be removed to replace the switch. does this sound right?

sonic- you were rearended by a cop a few months ago, no? could the switch have been damaged from that impact?

i think you would need to remove the bumper to get clear access to the wiring, but not sure.

I wonder if anything else was damaged? I hope not. Good luck with the repair bro.
