So you didn't lift the handle at all and spray? I am sorry man I can't picture it in my head right now for I have been in Afghanistan for 6 months so I can't remember what it looks like on the inside of my door handle right now I am looking at the picture you posted and thinking there is still silver showing from the handle. :ughdance:

No there's no silver showing on the handle unless you physically have the handle pulled out. I sprayed inside the area where your fingers go, just not the area that gets exposed when you pull the handle.

That's what I plan on doing. Spraying the inside finger area but not the part that gets exposed when you pull the handle, no need IMO.

very very nice video sir :) I plasti diped my front fang, side mirror caps and rear diffuser and I was always unsure of dipping the emblems. I've been thinkking about doing emblems since like 3 weeks ago but then I watched your video, ran directly to Lowes and got myself a plasti dip and did it! it came out perfectly!!! THANK YOU my man! :)

kenchan 08-11-2011 02:53 PM

if one ever make the mistake of buying an acura this would be a great way to hide their stupid looking chrome grill, huh? :icon17:

boomboom 08-11-2011 03:21 PM

anyone know if the engine parts can be done

kenchan 08-11-2011 03:36 PM

here's wat plasti-dip states on their homepage...

"Multi-purpose air dry, synthetic rubber coating that can be easily applied as a spray, brush, or dip coating. Plasti Dip resists moisture, acids, abrasion, corrosion, skidding/slipping, and provides a comfortable, controlled grip. Plasti Dip protective coating remains flexible, stretchy and will not become brittle or crack in extreme weather conditions; -30°F to 200°F. "

so top temp is too low for engine bay ...
use Duplicolor engine enamel for engine stuff.

Then I'll definitely spray this on my front bumper next time I go drifting so the cones don't scratch or bang up my bumper when/if I hit them!

Finished up my door handles and side markers today.

XwChriswX 08-12-2011 01:24 AM

Thinking of doing my side markers and emblems too this weekend. I debadged the '370Z' so just have the burgers.

Side markers will be in black of course...

Burgers I have 2 options:

1. Complete Black Out

2. Black out, fill in 'NISSAN' with Red. Overall theme of car is Black/Red

Your thoughts?

LoL Yeah, I just saw a pic of the black burgers with red letters, looks like azz so there goes that idea. :icon17:

kayess 08-12-2011 06:12 AM

Here is another idea i was planning on trying (Its already been done on other forums) using plasti dip as a primer and paint over it to any color of your choice. But i am not sure how it will come off.

NXXT 08-12-2011 08:19 AM

I just did my mirrors recently, it's freaking amazing, good job on the emblems!

Just get colored plasti-dip?? No need to paint over it, since it's not a primer, not sure how good the paint would stick... :ugh2:

I was debating on doing this as a joke, I would never paint them red. And it was a pic posted in the Premium Section. I don't remember where to link it though... best to stick with all black. I will be doing mine tonight, so I'll make sure to take plenty of pics.

RandyD 08-12-2011 04:27 PM

i'm blacking out the fangs now...

TypeOne 08-12-2011 04:43 PM

I think I will go pick up a can of this tonight and do my emblems.

>_<

Synack 08-12-2011 08:30 PM

It looks good if you are standing at least 5 feet back. Any closer and you start to see the massive imperfections in the paint. But its not bad if you want to just have black wheels for a little while for about 30 minutes of your time and $13.

Alright, just got done doing my emblems/side markers. Came out pretty good, I'll wait till tomorrow to snap some after shots so you can actually see them, but for now here's some of the prep shots...

It started getting a bit breezy as soon as I got to laying the protective wrapping down so that's why I made the cones for each ones, to prevent bugs/debris from sticking while they dried. Every car that was driving by was like :wtf: :icon08: :rofl2: Even had the Sheriff that was doing a ride through stop and ask me what was up. :icon17: More pics to come tomorrow!

very nice

Since plasti dip is removed pretty easy without hurting the finish on the wheels has anyone thought about using the plasti dip as like a primer then getting some krylon and painting over to get a better looking finish?

Jjaden 08-13-2011 09:08 AM

Looks like you did a really thorough prep job, I'm sure it's going to turn out great....

XwChriswX... Man it rained last night.. You have the worst luck when it comes to painting stuff and the rain. Hope it all turns out good!

Footloose301 08-13-2011 09:54 AM

Hmmm I'm about to drive from FL to NY. I wonder if this would be better than blue tape....

Red__Zed 08-13-2011 10:10 AM

looks good cwis:tup:

Synack 08-13-2011 02:25 PM

You don't need all that much prepping like paint. This stuff peels off VERY easily.

Yeah, I know it looks like I go overkill on the prep-work, but I've always been one to believe the more you prep for in the beginning, the less there is to worry about in the end.

Yeah I was actually able to get everything prepped and coated before a bud let me know it was going to rain. But when I went out to go remove everything, I herd it booming and saw flashes, but we didn't get 1 drop ftw.

This stuff dries fast as hell too. It's dry to touch in 5 minutes or less and handle after less than 30 minutes.

I gave it the four hours as stated on the can, (xbl time  ) And Everything was a breeze to remove. I was actually surprised how easily it separated from the parts that were painted.
