Exclamation Check your headlight lens!

From the accident a few months ago, the body shop replaced the RH headlight. I ordered a new LH headlight and shipped them out to get modded.

After getting the headlights back last week I noticed the leading corner of the LH headlight looked melted. I thought the oven melted it. It was minor, but I also found out the projector assembly was damaged and the reflector broke. The mod shop was aware of the hairline crack in the reflector and tried to reinforce it with epoxy. I guess the headlight endured enough shock during shipment to break the assembly and dislocate the projector making it impossible to align.

The mod shop took full responsibility and ordered a new headlight. He also discovered the same issue with the corner looking melted, but it was brand new out of the box! It was the only one his local dealership had, but they examined a brand new RH headlight and it had no issues. They also looked at a few 370Zs on the lot, and the headlights were fine as well.

Weird?

My brand new headlight:

I just noticed today while washing the Z, that the passenger side DRL corner light looks like it caught on fire. I gotta get a new set to get painted, but still ******* after market lights are not worth it.

No moisture. I've only had them for a few days for a quick photoshoot before removing it and ship it out. It's not as noticeable, so it's no big deal compared to the projector assembly. The RH headlight looks physically well, and the projector can be adjusted without any issues. At least I still have one headlight on haha.

Thanks for the info Digi! Will ck mine out too...although mine is completely stock.

While I would love to have my lamp reflectors painted matte black , I'm still not confident shops can do this without damaging the seals, alignment, etc.

The "melted" corner is actually from shipping, the lenses on the headlights don't shatter or crack upon a light impact, so if a rock hits it, it just gets a nick, so during shipping the sharp corners on the headlights end up penetrating the bubble wrap and the first layer of the box when they hit a solid surface and just bend the corner in. We've received dozens of z headlights in the mail that had a bent tip right out of the box.

We guarantee against moisture/condensation or any alignment issues (we don't even touch the projector so the factory alignment stays untouched. We probably performed about 40 jobs on 370z's alone and never had a condensation issue, even after opening the headlights multiple times.

Thanks, Igor. A brand new one out of the box had the same issue. His local dealer did not have another one in stock. That part is so minor that I'm more concerned about the projector assembly. Typically modders don't touch it other than to change out the lens, so shipping impact was probably enough to pop it loose, which is hard to fix without taking it apart.
