Tiny Rock vs 80mph moving windshield

While driving to work on the highway, there was a dumptruck about 7-8 car lenghts infront of me. Traffic was medium. Boxed in my lane since there was two cars on my sides. Then the dump truck hits a bump on the road and a HUGE baseball sized, perfectly round rock comes out of the back of it. It hit the road twice and had enough bounce that it came crashing into my windshield. I was f-ing hulking up!! Fail at MVA and fail to the windshield!

Made my in home appointment with SafeLite. They should come fix it Wednesday. Only $100 out of my pocket.

Ouch! Glad you're alright though man - looks like the windshield did it's job. Better it fracturing than your skull. Keep us posted about Safelite and their installation - I am also in MD w/ a blue Z and my insurance uses them as well. Would like to know how they are.

Oh nooooooo! I've got the Monterey Blue one as well!

I hate trucks. I think they should have double decker highways where all trucks have to travel on the lower level!

We need a "Save the Monterey Blue Z" campaign and start a petition to ban all rocks on freeways!!

Update: Got my windshield fixed today in the morning. SafeLite service was great!

Guy showed up right on the time he said he would. He didnt take no more than an hour to remove and replace the windshield. I would def. recommend their services if you ever come across a windshield being damaged. I only payed $100 (from the $364) after claiming it through my insurance.

Great to hear, did you request OEM glass or go aftermarket?

The chip on mine right now seems to not be getting any bigger so I won't worry about it until the time comes.
