Default cracked taillight need help

So some ******* threw a rock at my car last night while I was visiting my mother in Ca; usually my car is in the garage when at home. Anyway, looks like a tennis ball size hole over the right reverse light. Looking at courtesy nissan I was wondering if I should just get the lense or the whole assembly as they are basically the same price. Not very familiar with tail light assemblies as this is the first one I've had busted. Part number for the lense is 26554 and for the assemply its 26550. Or maybe I'm reading the schematic wrong that they have posted on the site. Could someone help direct me on what part or parts I will need so I know what this will cost me?

Also how hard is it to swap the assembly or lens myself? I'd hate to have to pay even more out of pocket for installation if I can do it myself. It's currently 11pm so too dark for me to check now, plus I'm not home where I have my tools. Thanks

You'll need the entire light assembly. You should be able to salvage the bulbs and use them in your new assembly if they're not damaged. Replacing them yourself will take you ten minutes and you'll have to remove pieces of the trunk to access the bolts holding the assembly in place.

Sorry to hear this happened to you. Hopefully it's just the taillight and your paint is okay.

I'm from Nevada and my Mom lives in Modesto CA. The Last time I visited her I was worried about where I'm gonna park my car and you know Modesto California has a highest carnapping town in that state. Thank goodness my mom made a space in the garage when she saw my car.

Here is the link I think...

Thanks for the replies guys. I think so far the cheapest I've found it is $256. I'll probably try a couple other places today and tomorrow and then order. Read the DIY page on the tail lights and it doesn't seem to bad. Hopefully I'll have it good as new soon. Good thing is that since it's the clear portion of the light housing it doesn't stand out.
