The Cola solution may or may not work depending on the plating, but my past experience with sanding and painted anything that is at the front of vehicles simply gets rock chipped as the rock or debris hits the paint, which is softer than the chrome underneath, and chips to where you can see the sanded chrome material.

ok so i just got home after a long day. i dropped by 7/11 and picked up a 20oz coke bottle came home and did this. ill wait until tomorrow and post up a picture of what happen to the emblem after being in coke.
