Tony loves blue so much he is going to start modding my car for me...

I love that blue color, If i could get another color it would be that blue with black wheels.

Ok so I finally got it finished. I ended up using the elmers painter marker in red to do the whole interior, including the cloth seats. some pics below. sorry about the quality these were taken with cell. The pics came out looking a little orange but to the eye it looks red. you can compare the thread color to the shift knob which many have seen is very red (Password JDM).

My Elmer's Red Markers just showed up in the mail today so I'll be doing this as soon as I get some free time.. |
Thanks for the compliments guys, the cloth was impossible to do without getting any on the black especially since the only red marker i found that looks red enough is the Elmers brand and the thinnest tip they make is the "fine tip" I called Elmers to see if they had the "ultra fine" but they said they discontinued it.
with the fine tip you will get some on the black cloth and it is noticable if you are looking for it. but you have to really be looking for it. I did a couple hidden location tests behind the seats and decided that the over paint on the black cloth is so hard to see that it would be worth doing. If any of you are perfectionists i would say do not do this on cloth. but for 99.9% of the people that look at the interior, they will never see the over paint on the black. I'll see if I can get any pictures to show what it looks like when you go over. also the red on the leather parts is somewhat difficult. if you wipe after painting 6" with a dry cloth it will leave an orange smudge on the leather and if you use a damp cloth it will somewhat fade the color of the red. I found that the best way was to use a dry cloth first than follow with a damp one to pick up the smudge. Quote:

ok here are some pics of the worst parts to show what it looks like when you get it on the black cloth (which you will).
i know it looks pretty noticeable when you are this close. But remember that this was with a light 12" away and the camera about a 12"away. It would be hard to tell that it was painted on unless you knew to look. http://www.the370z.com/members/falco...-50-01-417.jpg http://www.the370z.com/members/falco...-52-11-382.jpg |
Looks good man. +1 :)
|
looks great regardless!
|
to the eye does it look primary red or more of a darker red? would it go good in a blackcherry?
|
its a primary red, i think it would probably clash with the black cherry. i may be wrong it is kind of hard to imagine on a black cherry.
|
Very nice!
|
Looks good!
I gotta give you a rep for having the balls to try this on the cloth interior. I wouldn't have tried that myself. |

I just love that it is simple but makes a huge change!
|
It tool me about 3hrs because i was soo scared to get it on my black cloth. i think with leather it would go much faster.
The best bang for the buck so far! The pen cost like $2-$3 or something and i did the whole interior with just one pen. PS. Thanks to all those giving rep it is appreciated! |
I have the leather interior (Touring). I'll post pics. as soon as I get done with mine. Hopefully I'll get it done this week. Great job again Falcor.

One more tip: The headrest's are much easier to do if you remove them. Slide the seat all the way forward and recline them to remove it. |
Quote:
do the headrests have white threads on the leather seats? My cloth headrests only had black. And to remind anyone thinking of doing this. do NOT use red acrylic markers from -DecoColor -Sharpie they come out really pink due to the silver color of the stiches (multipul layers did not help darken the color) DO use the Elmers red acrylic. it is very a very solid primary red and will yield the best results. These are only suggestions for Red acrylic, i cant speak to the quality of other colors in these brands or the dye as i didnt try either. |

couldn't do this with the light grey interior right?
being it would stain the light colored leather rather noticeably |
