The more exotic the metal, the more horsepower you gain. Price is also directly proportional to performance gain.

On a serious note, the metal knobs will get hot in the sun or cold in the winter. Both good enough reasons for me to stick with my stock shift knob.

My knob is made from a rare metal only found on Jupiter where the planet core is actually solid. I smuggled a boat load of Smurfs to find it, but it was worth it. My Z is always clean because of that knob.

I have the AMS short shifter kit, and for the knob...Carbon & Leather is the way to go

I really love this nismo shift knob and plan on getting it if I decide to get the B&M short shift kit. It's priced at a "conservative" $62.95 at the Z store. Simple, clean, yet attractive

You need to get a Miata shift knob. It will make your doors stronger.

Been thinking the same thing. But I've also heard from several members off this forum that the PasswordJDM knobs are pretty nice as well.

If i remeber correctly I believe I saw Mike Bonnani's Z with one when we went to a low rider meet a few months back.

I have a feeling tho I will end up going with the Nismo Shift knob. I really want the titanium one, but can't justify the $140+ price tage

I'm not going to put anything on my car that says "nismo" considering my car isn't one.

Also agree with hot cold theory, I'll keep the stock one, it's got a comfy grip anyhow.

What does that have to do with anything? I never heard of soemone having a NISMO shift knob on a non Nismo and getting laughed at. Nismo is a part of nissan in an after market sense.

This is funny because the Z shares the same thread pattern as the Miata, so our shift knobs are interchangeable. I am running a knob that was designed for the Miata.

very true. however it didn't deter me from getting my Forged Performance knob (metal), yes it heats up but cools quickly.

+1. Mine is metal... yes, it does get pretty hot, but as long as you keep it out of the sun it's never too hot to touch. And it does cool off very quickly.
