NACA ducts are pretty good at bringing in air with minimal impact on the drag numbers. Their size, location, and orientation are usually finely tuned in wind tunnels, though.
My guess with these is they let a little air in, don't really hurt drag numbers, and otherwise serve a primary function of looking cool.
