Default So I got my license plates today..

I received my license plates today.. but I DON'T wanna put them on.

I live in Los Angeles so if I want to put on the back plate, I need to put the front on too or else I'd get a ticket. I don't like how the car looks with a plate on the front

I heard from a source that the only get away from having to put on a front plate is if you buy a new car with a paper tag on your front windshield, and you can ride with that for 6 months without plates(or until you get pulled over)? I don't think tag has a expiration date... Is any of this true? I looked and searched everywhere online and at DMV and it never stated we need to put on our plates within a certain time of receiving it.

How long did you guys drive your new cars without your license plates before you finally decide to put them on?

Yea...just put the plates on. It doesn't look bad at all. OR just put it on offcenter on the front bumper or put it in the windshield ( I wouldn't do this only becuz that's not where the plates belong) Or just leave the plates off until you get pulled over 20x and are tired of paying tickets

I put the front plates on the black plastic part of the grill and not over the paint. Looks pretty clean.

Illinois required front plates and I went 7 years without one. But Indiana is next door and they don't require one, so the car did not stick out too much. I got 2 tickets at $20 each when I parked downtown Chicago & O'Hare. But I figured $40 for 7 years was worth it to me....

I live in NJ and I don't use my front plates. I've yet to get pulled over or anything for it.

I was able to drive for 2 days and then was pulled over by a cop. He gave me just an warning. Then I went ahead and put it on. You can actually mount it without damaging the front at all. Take a look

DIY: Front license plate bracket Install

As for look, there's not much difference. It still looks pretty good. It'll get annoying getting pulled over every time you go out.

That must have been some time ago, I got a ticket at O'Hare last summer: $50! After that I ordered the Stillen holder, so I can put the plate on when I have to go to the airport or down town Chicago...

A lot of my friends that have Lamborghinis and live in states that require a front plate, have a sticker made to look like a plate.

Or.... just don't put your front plate on. I not only hate the way it destroys the looks of the car but I can't stand the premise behind this states blatent excuse for retarted revenue collection. Like we don't have enough already!

I pass many a cop and I have not once been pulled over for no front plate. In the odd occurance that I DO get pulled over let's say, 2 or even 3 times a year (unlikely) for no front plate, then paying the what is it?.... $35 bucks each time won't bother me one bit.

I did get a speeding ticket recently and only AFTER I already signed the ticket AND ONLY because there was another cop walking around the car did he alert the ticketing officer and because I was unloading my usual chipper wit with the ticketing donut muncher, he decided to add no front plate to the charge. Anyway, I drove down to the donut shop, put 2 tiny pieces of velcro on both the plate and my bumper (because I am not about to drill any holes), stuck the plate on, walked in and had the cop come out and sign off the ticket (for the front plate charge). I then proceeded to walk over to my car, rip the plate off, toss it in the front seat and drive off (in full view of the bakers dozen).

So do whatever you want.

It's only a fix-it ticket and nobody's going to pull you over expressly for the purpose of writing a fix-it ticket for no front plate if you've got the rear in place. I carry mine behind the front seat so they'll know I have it.

Assuming you don't get pulled over on a regular basis, put on the rear and don't worry about it. If it becomes an issue someday, deal with it then.
