Buzzard vs. Windshield

It was a draw I think. . Anyone know what Nissan charges? Used Safelite before and they did a horrible job. https://ibb.co/p0vK5xN

Will your insurance cover it? My Murano windshield was hit by a rock last week and Progressive replaced it for free. Our policy has free glass protection. They sent someone out to our house and they replaced it in our driveway.

Your local dealership will undoubtedly bend you over.

I would find a local bodyshop that you trust and see if they have a windshield guy THEY trust

Yeah...these cars are a pain in the *** to replace the window.....quite amazed at how many parts have to come off this car to replace it.....I think I have a $50 deductable for windshield replacement so I don't care about the cost of I make a claim....but finding someone who has done one of these cars is the issue....

Like OptionZero said, if you know a reputable mechanic or speed shop, they will be your best bet at this point.

I had my windshield changed out by Safelite and it was an excellent experience with excellent results. But I spoke with the tech before he came out and verified his previous experience with the 370Z - make sure the tech has done at least 3 or more replacements. I already had all the plastics removed when he arrived and we each removed one a-pillar and then I let him do his thing with the windshield. We split the work putting it back together and he gave me a break on my out-of-pocket cost for the assistance.

Biggest thing is the clips on the a-pillars tend to break. It's not a huge deal and it happens even when you know exactly how to remove them. You just need to make absolutely sure they replace them. I had some on hand just in case but we didn't have any issues.

edit** For the record, the tech that came out had done more than 10 370Z windshield replacements. He is the one who told me to make sure any tech that is doing a 370Z windshield replacements has at least 3 of them under their belt before agreeing to let them do the work.

Safelite replaced my windshield last year and broke *both* a-pillars in the process. I had to take my Z to their shop a few towns over and have what amounts to their master mechanic replace the a-pillars. They surely lost money on that job.

I would either find a shop who's done it before, or request to bring your car into their shop for a more experienced tech if your insurance limits you to Safelite (like mine does).

Funny you both said that....the Safelite guy never did a car like mine before ..In hindsight I should of told him not to touch my car. I was not aware of how difficult it was until I started looking up videos etc....I even helped him at first ...lesson learned ...This guy broke the clips off both B pillar trim pieces....one side he appeared to use some kind of apoxy as he broke the piece in two. The other side he broke two of the clips and decided to put some duct tape on the back where two of the clips used to be to hold it on....The A pillar (think that is what it's called, the pieces on the side of the window that come down to the hood) were both loose.

Yup to all this. The B pillar finishers will break, guaranteed, during any windshield replacement. I printed off the relevant FSM pages for the tech and stayed in the garage and watched.. both broke. The tech called his manager and I had new B pillar finishers a week later
