In-cabin microfilter install on 09's?
I'm not sure anyone has actually tried this yet after reading through the other 2010 changes threads, but can someone confirm that the microfilter is a plug and play install for 2009 models? From what i'm reading, the 2009 has an area for the filter to go, just not the filter. Once my car is out of storage in March, i'd like to do this if possible. Someone be the test dummy!

I'll look at my car tomorrow evening and see if I can't check it out.

As with similar threads, in for the answer.

Id rather have some other upgrades than the filter. That would have been the last thing on my list to upgrade if I was Nissan. Oil cooler or noise dampening or something like that would be on top.

any update? i was gonna go look for mine later today.

Well when I pulled the plastic off under the bonnet to run my wire through the firewall for my amp, I noticed an empty white container, which looked , to me, to be running into the inside vents etc, so if it is plug and play and someone has heard that it will just slot it, this may be the place?
Unless it's something else altogether.... lol |

Yes there is a place behind the glove box you have to take out and should fit opened it and looks like there should be one there guess Nissan was trying to shave some weight off the Z :icon18:

My car will be at the dealer next week, I'll be sure to ask. It was a no-go for the heated mirrors.
|
Hmm... definitely would be nice to have a filter.
|
I'm at the dealer right now. They say there is no place to put
the filter so we are SOL. |
The dealer dont know. Didnt we all learn to never trust the dealers. Only way to believe it is if fusz chimes in.

Rep points needed:
Ok here is what to do if you want clean air inside your Z. Bought the in cabin filter at Autozone for the Maxima seems like a lot of the Nissan's use the same filter. 1.About 6 screws to take glove box out then pull hard. 2.Open the vent door be careful the tab on the left on trap door breaks easy. 3.Insert filter and reassemble had to use a penny to hold left side tab broke. 4.Breathe the Clean Air. 5.Crank up the Red Hot Chili Peppers :tiphat: |
Dealer comes through with some great misinformation again.
|
Excellent find, now the question is what air filter. ;)

...so they made the slot.....but just didnt put a $10 (guessing the price) filter in the slot to make the 2010s sound good?!

Well I am going to go buy one these and try to throw it in my car, seems easy enough.
Also, how much HP does the filter add. ;) |

Actually; I would like to see a study of wet filtering versus dry filtering. I remember when I went through my smoking phase, the filter would be much more brown if I wet the filter a bit with my saliva first. I assume that meant it was doing a better job of filtering.

Great info Caneman88! Thanks for posting the pictures too.

Does anyone know how to move this info to DIY section?

Well I will (hopefully) be installing my H&R spacers this weekend and my air filter!!! Fresh air here I come!
Seriously... this is a great help. I suffer from bad allergies and the in cabin filters really help during pollen season. |
