I believe it was about $26 ( I will find out for you tomorrow). Dealer told me they didn't have them on stock but if I order, it will be here in 2 days. I told the parts guy, I'll be back later. This was 3 weeks ago.

I'd assume that your filter is not in the housing correctly and when the internals try and move the filter is in the way.

Yup...The early DIY's on this used incorrectly sized (thickness) filters. Since we've come up with the right one there should not be an issue. There are rails to the rear of the compartment that hold the filter up, as do the Tabs on the door. (see my pic a few posts up). If the element is not held up it could be interfering with the fan..

Yup, $26 bucks. Ordered mine today. I'll try to do the DIY this weekend.

Thanks for the info, please take a picture of it when you get it. I'm curious to see the difference in quality. I paid $19 for mine at Napa.

cossie1600 06-10-2010 04:32 PM

My recirculate mode was clicking because the cabin filter was so thick that it interfered with the door that goes from recirclate to open. I have to buy a smaller one, I bought a filter that was for a Maxima. It is too thick

Not to be redundant, but:

All the ones listed earlier in this thread fit perfectly...

STP: CAF1766
Purolator: C35479
WIX: 24883
Fram: CF10157

This is a Lexus/Toyota equivalent P/N Toyota 87139-32010 (Same HVAC air handler used by Nissan)

Lazy 06-11-2010 04:40 AM

is a cabin air filter just the filter or the whole cylinder box thing?

so if i have an 2010 i dont have to add a filter correct?

Thanks for the part number AK, I ordered mine last night using the dealers online ordering. Just had an email from them today saying:
"These parts have been discontinued from Nissan. I have cancelled the order. Sorry for the inconvenience"

Hopefully you'll get yours.

Spartan 1771 06-11-2010 03:40 PM

For anyone who thinks this mod is a waste, here is a pic of the cabin air filter I took out of my girlfriend's Sentra. It was changed 25,000 miles ago.

kenchan 06-11-2010 03:43 PM

that looks like my intake filter. :D hahaha

Spartan 1771 06-11-2010 03:48 PM

Nasty.... Nasty... Nasty.

So if her car had no filter, all of that crap would have been blown in to the interior of the car, or would have been stuck somewhere in the HVAC system.

Ran mine today in all modes with no issues. I bought the Napa charcoal filter.

cossie1600 06-12-2010 08:28 PM

I had problems because I used a Maxima filter, which is too big.

I couldnt find the CF10157 at Walmart. According to the book, 2004-2006 ES330 should use CF10132. I ended up getting that. While it does fit, it does end up to be a little bit long. I might order the 10157 online and see what the difference is.

WShade 06-19-2010 03:04 PM

The only one I could find locally it the STP and the fit is not 100% so I decided to order the OEM last weekend. Parts guy advised that it should be here Wednesday. Today I was advised that the order was canceled by Nissan. Parts guy states that he called Nissan to inquire and was advised that the order was canceled because the '09/'10 does not have the filter. I advised that I know the '09 does not but I thought the '10 did as it is in all of the literature. He states that Nissan advised him that the '10 does not have one either. Claims they decided not to include the filter after the literature was printed. :wtf: Who has a '10 that can verify there is no filter?

kenchan 06-19-2010 03:21 PM

Just use this, buy through amazon. I have it in my car (09) and perfect fit:

Fram CF10157

I hate dealers more everyday. Just go to Napa and get a nice charcoal one for $20 or less. I have it installed in my 2009.

dcrew1x 02-05-2011 05:28 PM

Thanks for the DIY caneman88 and g96818 + rep

Took me 10 minutes, easy install. Used Fram CF10157

JJ-NISMO 02-11-2011 02:37 PM

Bump, has anyone looked into getting an OEM filter now that the 2011 models are out?

Any consensus on what the best fitting charcoal filter is?

kenchan 02-11-2011 02:43 PM

the one i use charcoal. they pretty much fit all the same if you get the right ones.

Fram CF10157

Fram CF10157

Thanks kenchan! I am going to pick one up today.

Has anyone had any issues with the '09 system not being able to handle the added pressure built up by the obstruction?

WhiskeyHotel 02-12-2011 10:54 AM

Mine works perfectly and I haven't seen any complaints on here.

@ kenchan,

I got my Fram filter and am going to install tomorrow. I know to install dark side down, but do the two sides with foam point left and right or front and back?

Thanks!!

KaienZ34 02-16-2011 07:58 AM

Thanks Kaizen. +1

He put the foam sides facing front to back. Would it make more sense to have them on the sides to give a better seal in the box?

KaienZ34 02-16-2011 03:32 PM

^ I would think so, but i have not done this mod thus i am just guessing.

I put the foam facing side to side. The side with the printed arrow I used as my front. I got a wix charcoal filter on ebay for 9 or 10 bucks shipped.

Nice find. I am going to do foam on the sides. Seems like that will provide the best seal.
