If anyone's curious to how it looks on a 15+ Nismo bumper.

Had this done at Z Car Garage while I was bringing in the car in for maintenance. Couldn't do this myself in an open parking slot, and can't lie that I didn't trust myself to do a proper job with the harness connection to the battery. I believe they had to replace that same fuse Taco mentioned.

Visually a lot going on. I'm more into the main projectors instead of the DRL's, as well as the black housings which I've been contemplating for a while, but the whole thing in action is pretty nuts.

Not sure if you guys have seen this video.

They look best on a dark colored Z. Not as good on a light colored.

Looks good Ventruck. I think the black housing and smoked lenses look great on our black cars. So much better than that OEM chrome!

I love these so far. Just waiting to get the z cleaned up and some good photos to post more here.

Da370z 04-20-2020 03:32 PM

Man, cant wait to get mine, TRS is saying early-mid May

1/4atatime 04-20-2020 04:36 PM

They look good but I still think the stock ones with some demon eye mods and switchbacks look better https://www.theretrofitsource.com/im...0&resizew=1109

I do want to get the tail lights I really like those. But I know everyone has their own opinion on them.

Just got an order confirmation email from The Retofit Source (Billed to Z1, where I ordered the headlights) for the fuse tap harness. As someone stated before. The Harness is supposed to make the DRL brighter. DRL works right now (with parking lights on) it's just not super bright.

The battery harness really didnt seem to do anything so my guess is the 1st preorder batch was given wrong DRL harness.

I got the same email. Also ordered from Z1.

My shipment came with the harness, but it wasn't the fuse type, it had connections for the battery and chassis terminal.

Without that harness, you should not have any DRL with your headlights off. But with your headlights on, you should get a dim DRL. So that harness is needed for the brighter DRL only when your headlights are off.

As I mentioned, my 6A fuse blew. So either they supplied the wrong fuse/harness, or I was one of the few to even get a harness?

I do have it connected to battery so it's probably the same fuse issue you had. I'll double check my connections too, or just wait to use the new fuse harness.

I replaced the 6A fuse with a 7.5A fuse as the auto store only had 5A or 7.5A. It seems to be working well so far.

It was the fuse. Swapped it out with 7.5, all seems good now.

Hopefully the 7.5 are ok to use. Usually fuses are rated a certain amperage to protect the load, in this case the LED’s. LED’s don’t generally pull much current, so I’m surprised the 6A blew. I’m thinking of backing down to a 5A and see what that does.

Was your original fuse marked as 6A. Mine had no number, but now I'm thinking it might actually be 4A (was pink). I'll try swapping it out with a new 4 or 5 maybe.

You may be right. Looking at an auto fuse chart it jumps from 4A to 5A and then to 7.5A and the 4A is pink.

I thought it had a 6 on the top of the fuse, but it was very hard to make out. I’ll probably replace the 7.5A with the 5A to be safe.

I would rather use this harness as I don’t want to re-run another one not do I want to pull the fuse box to install the one coming.

Looked at the blown fuse this morning in better light and... it has a 3 on top... :icon14: . Couldn't see it outside yesterday since its barely recessed and it's all glossy pink plastic. Take a look at yours if you still have it.

isayimandrew 04-22-2020 11:26 AM

The fuse should be 10A. They sent the wrong fuse size.

Perfect! Thanks.

I'm going to stick with my 7.5 for now then. It won't hurt to have the smaller fuse in there, as long as it doesn't blow. If it does, I'll replace it with the 10A. I'm guessing they have a 10A that fits in that holder. I'm not going to replace the harness I originally got with the new fuse box type.

I'm with ya! Everyone about to have the same headlights like when OE. :roflpuke2:

At least with the OE base lights there a thousands of combinations through self or retrofit biz's.

370z Nismo with XB LED headlights

First and foremost s/o to Nextlevelperf I placed my order on Mar 31st so I was expecting my headlights until May, they ended up filling my order early and had them at my door by Apr 16! Don't know why or how but thank you!
The Retrofit Source answered my questions on the whole fuse situation so s/o to them too! Ended up opting to just go to my local autozone and bought a $2 dollar 10A fuse.
Anyways, I took this video a day after installing the lights. Hope you guys like it. (don't mind the monster truck wheel gap lol) :happydance:

Ok. Now that's a much better video compared tp what have seen so far, and I am starting to change my mind about these. Looks good on a PW.

Excellent video Nestor, thanks for posting that man.

1/4atatime 04-24-2020 09:05 PM

Leo's working on my 3rd set of headlights right now. He'll be doing an extra set of tail lights when the headlights are done.

Is it me, or are the DRLs not that bright in the daylight?

It may just be the video. Mine seem plenty bright to me.

Ventruck 04-25-2020 10:02 PM

I can see the DRL's for sure in the reflection of other cars' rear bumpers in the daytime.

Their weakness might be they don't project at a wide angle. I figured that was inevitable with their more vertical arrangement and pretty straight orientation.

Zodiac-v2 04-26-2020 11:56 PM

So I'm about to install them tomorrow. I see there is a battery tap harness, but The Retrofit Source also sent me a fuse DRL harness too (with 10A fuses).

Based on that install video by HID Express, seems like they're is just using the battery harness only. Do I just disregard the fuse tap harness then?

cooltoy 04-27-2020 12:06 AM

Is ti because they did not do sequential turn signal?

It might be worth a call to the retrofit source to double check, but I’m thinking you can us either? Unless the wires in the battery tap harness are too small.

I’m using, and will continue to use, the battery tap harness. It makes the installation of it easier IMO. Plus it’s already installed on mine and I haven’t received the fuse tap harness yet. You will likely need to upgrade the fuse to at least a 7.5A or a 10A to match what they recommend.

If you have both, maybe take a look at the gauge wire each harness uses. If there is a difference, and the fuse tap wires arelarger, I would use that. If they’re the same, us the whichever one you want and make sure fuse is sized properly or go with retrofit source’s recommendation if you call them.

KaienZ34 04-27-2020 12:41 PM

I like them, personally I wish they came with the option for non black housing. So you could really show off how nice they are and it would look more like an OEM upgrade or something. just my :twocents:
