Vented Fender & Liner.. work?

Hey!

Sooo, i've been reading up on all sorts of posts on the forum about reducing heat and stuff. I came across this picture



1) Would this work to help get some heat out of the engine bay? Even adding more holes closer up top (behind the headlight area)

2) Would this also work to help get heat out or is it just cosmetic RS1 Vented Fenders

There is one oil cooler kit where they place the cooler in front of the tire on the left side. And you had to put holes in the fender liner to vent for the cooler. This picture looks like that.

To get rid of the heat. Hood vents do the best job. A lot of us now are installing Trackspec vents.

Yes install Trackspec hood vents if you have the bolas to start cutting holes in you’re hood.

I appreciate both of your responses and i just quickly looked at the Trackspec vents but iunno how i feel about them, not the most aesthetically pleasing at least for my taste. But to be fair, i haven't really put much thought into hood vents as not sure if it would be a great daily and i do like to wash my car frequently and having to cover those vents would annoy me each time, that and i'd be fairly paranoid with heavy rainfall BUT, i will give it some more thought as well, im sure they are other hood vent locations that would look better to me, or possibly aftermarket hoods? who knows.

Anyway! while i appreciate both of your responses I don't mean to sound annoying but would appreciate it if you could shed some light as to if both or any of those 2 methods i posted would help me with engine temps? as these two options would probably be ideal for me to try first lol.

Some aftermarket hoods have rain shields with them. Couldn't tell you which ones.

Bump. Still wondering if my 1) & 2) in my original post work as a way to vent.. Im thinking the fender itself will probably be good, but i dont know for sure lol

I don't think the fender wells will really vent that much heat. Remember your tires are going to fling water and debris as you are driving. At least on the front it wouldn't be that bad, but something to think of.

Looking on eBay, that front fender liner is $42 new shipped (its aftermarket) maybe try it one side and see what happens to your temperatures as an experiment? I'd cut the aftermarket one and keep your OEM one though.

On the hood and rain guards, any thing that keeps water out will impede air flow.

I just finished installing the Trackspec hood vents to my car, which is a daily driver, and driven year round. I did go over the engine bay connectors and add dielectric grease to each one for extra insurance. However they are all weather tight connectors already. Your engine can get wet, its sealed it. The only way I see this being a problem is if you had a hot air intake where your air filters were exposed in the engine bay, as the side vents would most likely be very close to them. I know lot of factory cars have vented hoods, and I had several Mustangs that had aftermarket hoods now with scoops that were never a problem even when right over the distributor. Its just not a concern for me.

I'd say if you really don't like the look of the vents, I think you would be better off with one of the custom hoods, or the custom bumpers that have extra venting in them.
