Hood Dampers for 370z?
Does anyone know of any Hood Dampers that fit the 370z for the stock hood?
|
If you can figure out if the g37 ones fit, I know there are two out one polished and one in carbon man.
|
Do you know the make? If so, I can get with the local G club and see if we can figure it out.
|
I don't think they're recommended, could cause pressure points due to the aluminum being weaker than most hoods.
|
So .. only use hood dampers if we replace the hood with a carbon fiber hood? I know I've seen a ton of 350's with hood dampers, is the 370's hood that much heavier or have an inferior design?
|
I think what vipor meant is that it could misshapen the aluminum hoods on the 370z.
|
:iagree:

The 350Z has an aluminum hood too, supposedly around 23lbs. I'd love to know what rates they're using on the hood dampers. Shouldn't be too hard to do a plastic analysis and see if the aluminum will warp from their use.
Assuming the 370Z hood is about the same weight, though, it shouldn't be too big of an issue. |
another good reason for dampers..... the hood doesn't seem to open high enough using the hood prop. maybe it's just cuz i'm tall iono.
|
Here you go man, I know some of you guys will say not to buy them off ebay but these guys are a good vendor over on our side, they might be stock ones just wrapped in carbon you know, I would contact them first. Dont forget my rep ;)

I imagine that unless the hood was designed for it, putting dampers on it to hold the hood up would eventually kink the hood in those spots from closing it...

I have sold many for 350Z and hood have no problem. I even have the dampers on my G35 coupe. If anyone wants to try G37 one on 370Z. Let me know.

can't really see enough of the hood on the Z but it doesn't look like it'll be the same part.

seems like you could just mount the hood-side bracket to the hinge itself. like you said though, car-side may be a little tricky

Not big of an issue for me now. |
So to clarify, no one has created a kit that fits the 370z as of yet, correct? However, now it appears there might be some interest, so the vendors and/or you crafty modders are hard at work creating a set of hood dampers that will fit the 370z?
|
heh I was working with a local shop to produce these like 6 months ago, but nothing ever materialized. I'd be interested in a set.

Man I must have missed this thread. I've been looking for some hood dampers for my 370Z. I've had them on my 350Z for a number of years. Hopefully someone will figure out how to make a set soon.
The hood dampers on my 350Z were made by CTD in Germany. Courtesy Nissan sells them among other vendors. |
Any updates on other vendors making a set for the 370z yet?
|
In for updates.
|
From NRG....
"we tried test fit and will not work we need to re work the part to fit that car sorry at this time we dont make nrg" |
I'll try to get a 370Z in next week and have them made. for sure we need a bracket for the hood the other end of the damper will have a ball join bolt which replaces factory screw. Should be easy to make.
