This is great news EVOR .. let me know when they are produced, or if you need a guinea pig, as I am #1 on your list to purchase a set.

whoop, guess i'll stop looking around for a shop to do this with lol

but yeah shouldn't be that hard to make a hood damper

JB-370z 12-31-2009 08:14 AM

It would be sweet to see these in like a burnt ti version. mmmmm....that would be nice!

gleonard 12-31-2009 03:26 PM

Updates?

TipsZ 01-08-2010 10:07 PM

Anyone still working with a vendor to develop some hood dampers for the 370z? My car is available in the Tampa Bay region for testing if need be.

Bump

TipsZ, I am glad you are staying on top of the 370Z hood dampers. Frankly, I can't believe that no one has come out with these yet. As soon as they do I'll be in line to get a set. Love the ones on my 350Z.

TipsZ 01-15-2010 09:44 AM

Any update on these? Anyone else have interest in obtaining a set of Hood Dampers? Perhaps, if the vendors see more interest in these, they could see the urgency in developing a set to get to the market quickly.

theDreamer 01-15-2010 09:45 AM

I would buy a set.

How hard is it to make these?
The first week I got my car I drove the car with a friend to a Mustang shop, he needed some parts, and there first thing when we popped the hood was how to fit a Mustang kit on the Z. Should have taken them up on the offer, but we were in a rush.

Depends. I had to have custom brackets made, to make them not look bulky and cheap. Also, I would not use other kits. The struts come in different lbs. The hood weight and angle is what determines that. Using the wrong lb strut, u can very easily bend the hood.

It's not rocket science, but it does take some testing.

I got lazy doing this because I thought a few vendors jumped on it. Maybe I should go back and take a look...

I just sent an email to a company here in Houston, but no idea if anything will pan out from them (never talked to them before).

Did you have to discard any OEM pieces like 350 owners did to make them fit?

Interested to know if you are fabbing these yourself, or was another company involved?

TipsZ 02-04-2010 01:48 PM

Any updates Racer??

theDreamer 02-04-2010 02:18 PM

I wonder if it is time to start PMing vendors on the board here, none have really posted in here and I am sure many of them have the ability to get a test car in and fit something.

hey all,

i work for the gas spring manufacturer, Stabilus, that did the hatch springs for the 370z; as well as most of the auto industry. we've done the 350z replacement hatches, as well as hood kits for them as well... my 370z is the "prototype" for the new hood kit that will retrofit onto the car. i will let you all know when we finish the project.

just noticed this thread was getting a lot of attention and wanted to let everyone know what going on at the OEM supplier of the auto industry.

thanks,
SP
