just noticed this thread was getting a lot of attention and wanted to let everyone know what going on at the OEM supplier of the auto industry.

Any updates?

1slow370 02-13-2010 06:47 AM

god this thread kills you almost as much as the supercharger thread. If there was more hope of these actually coming out i would be ready to kill someone by now.

ZPirate 02-13-2010 07:41 AM

It's amazing to me too that no one has come out with these yet. Doesn't seem it would be that hard to do for a resourceful vendor. I need to check CTD's website to see if they are working on something. I have CTD hood dampers on my 350Z.

1slow370 02-13-2010 08:46 AM

Psh they aren't working on anything and there will never be dampers for our cars don't try to give us hope :stirthepot: j/k j/k there must be some issue with mounting locations that is preventing it from happening some one will make a kit eventually but who knows when. I might have to get a bit more active with this. anyone have a close up picture of a damper setup for a 350z so we can compare the 2?

Ok on the 350z it looks like there are actually some places to mount to where as our cars have a ton of plastic and rubber so i guess the mounting is a bit harder than usual.

ZPirate 02-13-2010 09:29 AM

I emailed CTD in Germany regarding whether they are planning on building hood dampers for the 370Z. I just got an email back from them that they are working on them for the 370Z and the GTR and that they will be available soon. I'll keep everyone posted when I hear something more from them. The CTD dampers on my 350Z are first class.

We are a new vendor on here and we just became a Reseller for Redline Tuning's Quick-Lift kits. They don't show an application for the Z yet. I will e-mail them and see what it will take to get a kit for the 370z put together. I'll keep you guys updated.

Yay, another company who can help.

Thanks. :D

E-mail has been sent. I'll keep you guys in the loop.

Welcome to the forum. After looking at Redline's website I don't see an application for the 350Z either. It looks like they do make a couple of Nissan applications though.

I had a friend that had Redline's on his 2007 Mustang and they worked well.

ZPirate 02-14-2010 07:45 PM

Here is what the CTD hood dampers on my 350Z look like for those who haven't seen them before.

Entire damper.

Hood (top) bracket.

The entire damper from another angle.

Amazingly they e-mailed me back. They said they haven't had enough time to work with the 350/370 to really make sure they will work with the application. Anyone in Michigan want to head over there and try to get them to make them? Let me know and I'll put them in touch with the guys at Redline.

Thanks for the welcome. We are really trying to jump in the 370z community as best we can. We are mostly a maintenance/repair/bolt-on mod shop for subies in the CNJ/NNJ/NYC area, but don't see how the 370z demographic would be any different.

So if any of you guys are in NJ, hit us up for whatever we can do for you.

I've never had any issues with the aluminum hood on my 350Z and my CTD hood dampers. I've had them on the car since 2006.

theDreamer 02-14-2010 08:03 PM

I think if they build them right you should not have any issues.
Maybe the first hood that comes in might have some issues, but R&D. ;)

Its very important that people understand that it was not designed to use struts, but it's not impossible that you can't modify them for struts taking into consideration the right strut pressure is used.

AZP Installs 02-14-2010 08:09 PM

Yeah the guys at Redline said they didn't like the way they worked with the 350 they briefly tried them out on. That's one thing I have to say about the Redline guys is they seem to be real up-front in terms of knowing their boundries and what they can do and can't do.

update on mine. im in process of redesigning them. the hood has started to dent in on the inside, and the struts are just strong enough to lift it.......

Damn! I am sorry to hear it is causing some stress to your hood. Have you moved the mounting points yet? Placement of the mounting points and eventual angle have a lot to do with how smooth the lifts will work, as well as without causing undo stress to the hood itself.

scratch the updates lol

TipsZ 03-05-2010 04:34 PM

Ok .. I "scratched the updates", however any vendors out there care to comment on their development status?

TipsZ 03-09-2010 08:30 AM

I guess everyone gave up on the development of Hood Dampers for the 370z.

vipor 03-09-2010 08:31 AM

Seems like it

JB-370z 03-09-2010 11:40 AM

It seems like this product is risky bussiness for a vendor to make and put out on the market. No one wants to release a product that could potentaily bend the hood. Might have better resaults with a new design or different hood.

ZPirate 03-09-2010 11:56 AM

I'll follow-up with CTD and see where they are in the process. When I emailed them about a month ago they said they were close to releasing the hood dampers for the 370Z.

FuszNissan 03-09-2010 04:04 PM
