Vented Hood Inserts Intrest

Is everyone using a grinding wheel to cut the hood? Any ideas for dressing up the underside and/or cut edges? The hood is aluminum - correct?

I will be using a 4" x 1/8" fiber cut-off wheel on a 20,000 rpm angle head die grinder. And applying zinc paint to the cut edge using a small paint brush most likely.
