Stop being SUCH A DAMN TEASE.

shadow85 08-22-2017 01:08 AM

I know we will see them soon enough. But I just wanted to know, will these vents be purely for functional purpose, i.e. venting air, or will they be designed to actually look good too for aesthetics point of view?

ChaseZ 08-22-2017 02:36 AM

She ain't pretty she just looks that way

The goal is to have a highly functional vent to move air out and create down force and look good doing it. If you look at their website their products are pretty dang nice.

fmayi1101 08-22-2017 02:10 PM

man the fugi hood looks damn good, and the car looks awesome so mean in front lol.

Thank you bro...I got numerous compliments at the track and a lot people took pictures and asked question about the Z.

SOUTHZZ 08-22-2017 03:46 PM

Good to see the hood vent project is still going on.

May be good to have a separate thread for those who's major purpose is to track their car
regardless how it will look.
like ,it is function not style.

I really like the looks of Hotrodz Z for the track.
Open up the front as much as possible.
Love the hood.

cigarclifford 08-22-2017 03:52 PM

[QUOTE=Hotrodz;3687080]Here is something to consider as well. I increased the flow of air into my front bumper as suggested by Chase and others and the results are awesome. It was over a 100* at Auto Club Speedway and my water temperature never exceeded 220 and my oil temp high was 240*.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...e449600c50.jpg[IMG]

 Imagine seeing this beast in your mirror at the race track

Outstanding Mr. Bob

Only way I'd see him in my mirror is if he was about to lap me. =)

I actually considered putting the thread in the track section however after some consultation with other members of the formum it was decided that there are lot non-track goers that would also be interested and that is the case. I think for most of those that track or are boosted it is function over form. However we all want it to compliment our cars.

The real story is that I had contacted Jonh about their universal vents and when he called me back he said you know they will probably work just fine but it will look like crap. He then said maybe it is time for me to build one specifically for the Z. I have been getting more and more calls about vents from Z owners. So my job was to find him a donor hood and gauge interest on the forum. I pmed Eagle...never met him but I knew he was track guy and lived near the shop and from there the rest is history. So long story longer we should get both...form and function!

And thanks for the compliment!

My compliments for seeing this project through.
Comments from me have not been negative. I've been involved with forums
for our cars(z33&z34+original 240z)for many years.
For sure, there are the purists that strive to get the best out of the car.
But,from my experience, there are the lurkers, wannabe's and those that
want the looks etc.
These tend to be the majority.
I've done the true performance stage myself.
Riveted fender extensions. Anything to make it go faster.

Your Z has the pro clean go fast look.

I'm sure it's as fast as it looks!

********. You've had plenty of negative comments in this thread. If you're not the target market for this, have a Coke and a smile and shut the **** up on the way to your Early Bird Special. There are those of us who want this product. Go back to gluing carbon fiber stickers to your car.

Yeah, those riveted fender extensions add all kinds of crazy power. It's a miracle you're still alive.

So back to the topic at hand....

Does anyone know the high pressure spots?

cooltoy 08-24-2017 04:28 PM

Ukraine and North Korea I think.

I will send him an email on Monday to see what is up. When I exchanged emails with him last week he was pretty hopeful that the vents would be back to him this week. He may be trying to wait until he can mount them on Eagle's hood before unveiling them.

Agreed, would like at least a concept drawing.

I looked at the measurements of their universal hoods, and it seems like they would be a decent fit on our hoods, however I just don't know if thefunctionality is there.

We are close, trust me we will have pictures soon. Don't let that jackass give you any doubts on this project. I respect the fact that John is doing this right and just not whipping something up that will just work. Quality products take time! There hasn't been crap on the market since the 370z hit the market so let's not be too much in a hurry. I am as anxious as anybody as my first email to them was 18 months or better.

ihiryu 08-29-2017 10:46 AM

I don't doubt it. Just anxious. After the Stillen SC went on, my under hood temps have skyrocketed. Thus I wanted something functional as well. Can't wait, and the pricing for the vents (so long as they are close to what he shows on the website for other vehicles) is pretty fair, so I think it's a shoe-in

DarkJak 08-29-2017 11:45 AM

My Z overheats the coolant on longer track sessions. Would love a set of hood vents, especially if they are more functional than what aftermarket hoods offer. (not to mention being cheaper to buy)

Man the hype for this is so high ! I'm eager to see the final product. Hope OP delivers soon

All of the hype is from you guys that are so excited lol

It's probably a good thing we haven't heard anything just yet. As Hotrodz mentioned, quality products take time. At least he's not taking your money to R&D products that may not even be viable like some have done

Things are moving a long nicely, he is doing this the right way!!!
