Doesn't Seibon make a similar hood already?

Seibon hoods are not too bad. I think I picked up my TS style hood for $600 shipped.

Been there and done that many a time. Everything I have has been modded or breathed on. Helll, even my motorhome is modded. And that started out at $328,000. You're not the only one. I don't know what stock is. LOL

I will need to do something in the near future myself. This thread helps. Stuff 2 snails under the hood and the under hood temps get crazy. They are crazy right now at stock levels. My old 300zxtt would evaporate the water/acid out of a battery with the quickness in the summer. I lost a couple of batteries to this in the summer time.

Stock hood is aluminum, so it will usually be lighter or equal to the weight of most CF hoods.

  1. John from Trackspec Motorsports visited my home
  2. He picked up my hood last week and made a mock up template of the vents already, which I am not able to share.
  3. He is going to engineer the design in CAD and will be 3D printing the molds over the next few weeks
  4. Any questions?

Does he need a HR hood ?

I have one he can have !

thanks for the update...

To the idiot trying to knock these vents, needs to get out of cars all together!

That's
Seibon VSII-style I believe. The front vent is not as large.

( Click to show/hide )

I see some nice creases to act as cut lines for making it larger :D

I like this one a whole hell of a lot more. I wasn't digging the side vents

Hotrodz, do you ever had any vapor locking issues during a hot restart? Say you turn the car off to get gas after a long drive and the engine is heat soaked. Does it ever take longer to start or stumble around a bit after the restart? The older 300zxtt would run the fuel pump for 30 sec or so after a shutdown to get cooler fuel in the rail. Of coarse they had return fuel systems.

echoshotz 07-14-2017 11:31 PM

I get that issue here in AL. Car likes to struggle to start back up when hot. But it starts every time

I remeber getting some of that like echoshotz has stated but it hasn't happened in a long time. I just don't drive the car much when temps are over 100*

The vented hood will no doubt help with this. I get a little bit of it now. with a pair of twins under the hood it is going to get crazy hot.

I was amazed at how much hot air pours out of the vents on my Fugi hood. You can see and feel the heat coming out of the engine bay. Gonna do some mods to my front bumper to get more air flow in as well.

Quick update:

Jon will be sending the Vents out for fab this week, he was up in Portland for the Trans Am race, can't lie I'm kind of jealous.

Anyway it'll probably be a couple weeks before those vents are back and ready for fitting. Hopefully we'll get some pix soon. Will keep you all posted as more information becomes available.

Hotrodz 07-31-2017 03:43 PM

If I just didn't spend a bucket of cash on my rear diff project. This would be on top of my list.
