Vented Hood Inserts Intrest

I and Eagle are collaborating with TRACKSPEC to design and develop functional hood inserts for the Nissan 370z oem hood. The company is well know for their hood inserts for many track cars such as Camaros, Corvettes, Mustangs, Porsche and BMW to name a few. You can view their products at trackspecmotorsports.com.

I am hoping there is enough interest that John and his company will join the forum as a vendor if there is enough support for their product. I you have friends or own a 350z please pass the word to them as well. I will post updates as he provides them to me. I'm sure John will be monitoring this thread so post up if you are interested. :driving:

Cheers,
Bob

Hope they have optional rain protection, that can be removed or put on.

I will pass your request on but remember the company is in southern California and as the old song goes...."It never rains in southern California."

cooltoy 06-24-2017 12:34 AM

Thus optional. Those who do not want to pay for the option can forgo it. Maybe more sales that otherwise would not happen.

In if rain protection is added. Midwestern and daily driven so this is only way I can play.

SOUTHZZ 06-26-2017 05:02 AM

Will the focus from most buyers be,the looks of hood vents,or the actual function
of extra cooling?
I agree,rain protection is a major concern.

If it is looks, there may be other less costly hood "vents" that could be done.

I would encourage you to do a little reading and research. The only reason this venture was start was get a functional hood vent for me and others that track and or forced inducted. That is priority one! If you check out TrackSpec's Facebook page you will see they are all about function. They also want their product to look good and that is why the fabricator said he did not want to sell me their universal hood vent. As far price an availability there are not many hood inserts that will move the amount air I'm looking for. Yes there are cheap hood replacements out there and you will get what you pay for.

I exchanged emails with John today and he said he will getting the donor hood this week. I past on the request regarding a rain guard of some sort and he said that he would see what he could do as how much room there is between the hood and the engine or the brace bar. He said depending on the clearance it may poke or be raised an inch or so. I told him I don't that would matter as long as it looked good lol. Stay tuned more too come.

Hey,

I've bugged them for years now for the Z33!

I'm not in the business but it's lots of potential buyers if made to order !

Please forward this pic onto "John" as my social media attempts have not been responded to.

http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1498580069

Something similar to the Nismo RS vents but the two side vents can be to catch air and the main hood vent for release !

I hope the Z34 gets a reasonable options as you can't beat the OEM hood!

Hotrodz 06-27-2017 11:42 AM

Lol, my first email to him was about 18 months ago. I sent another one a couple of months ago and then I decided to call him and he returned my call.

I really like the drawing you have provided and I will pass them along to John!

Hey everyone, so John from http://trackspecmotorsports.com/ swung by earlier in the week to pick up my hood, he took some quick measurements of where the radiator is and checked clearance. We spent the rest of the time just chatting about the track, he's enthusiastic to get something out there that is going to have function as well as form for the 350z and 370z guys. So I can tell he want's to make a positive impact with this project.

I'll hit him up soon to see if there's been any progress but in case you guys were wondering, I asked him if he could make us something like this...

http://www.martworkshop.com/var/albu...202005%200.gif

http://car.watch.impress.co.jp/img/c...s2013_0090.jpg

He'll likely replace the NACA ducts down the center of the hood with some other kind of venting but he liked the general concept of this hood. FYI, for those of you who are not familiar with this car it's a 350Z race car that ran in the GT500 class of JGTC (now known as SuperGT).

I'll keep you guys posted.

SOUTHZZ 06-30-2017 03:20 PM

Hey,hate to be a "wet blanket" on this conversation...
But,function or looks,WHAT will hood vents do to the actual performance of your Z?
I mean,get in,start it up,take off.
Gobs of power felt?
I think not.
On the track in conjunction with other parts at high RPMS.
Maybe so.

The whole idea sounds like a marketing ploy from the aftermarket guys.
Hey,they got bills to pay,right?

For us everyday drivers---a deduct from the bank account.
