370z air conditioner filters question

my 12' comes with an air filter. mentioned a musky smell to my shop they took it out and showed it to me. damn it was disgustingly dirty. they swapped

u sure it was just the filter? unless it was moldy it's usually the evaporator getting flooded or old water getting moldy.

trick is to leave your climate control on at all times to run a/c. winter, put car in defog mod. i never encounter such smells.

i'm pretty sure it was the filter. it did look like it was a bit mouldy but didn't inspect it too deeply.... just a big nope don't change! i've driven about 5k miles since the swap and haven't noticed any musky smell.

but serious question... what is this defog mode you speak of? i hope it's not like blinker fluid because

defog aka defrost mode. i keep the hvac in that mode + blow to floor usually in the winter. keeps the compressor running to keep the system circulated and run drier.
