Fuel Pump?

This cold weather lately has made me notice something. A super high pitch tone coming from the back of my 2011 370Z Sport Touring. The amp for the Bose system is back there, and the fuel pump. Only things I could think of. It does it regardless of the radio being turned on or off, but doesn't do it unless the engine has started, so I think it's the fuel pump. Doesn't do it when the temp is 40 or higher, only notice it when leaving work late at night and it's around 30 degrees or colder. It also stops by the time I'm home. Could it be that the fuel pump is just COLD and making that noise? Anybody else notice this or have had experience with this???

My fuel pump does the same thing... its been between 30 and -5 everyday in Pittsburgh for about 2 weeks, I also took out my fuel pump and cleaned it to be sure, same noise afterwards. 09 Touring.

I have the same noise as well.

I can only imagine when the walbro goes in it will be even louder.

That would be my first guess. You should be able to pinpoint the source using a paper towel tube or similar - stick your ear to one end and point the open end toward the pump, amp, &c.

If it is the pump, then some sound-deadening material in that area may help.

My aeromotive pump is loud but not annoying or anything.

One way to find out. Move the pass seat all the way forward. Remove the carpeted cover from above the fuel pump. Start the engine. Now with the cover removed. The fuel pump will be alot louder.

walbro 255's will be loud they are gearotor pumps, the stock and some walbros are turbine pumps and are very quiet, the aeromotives are turbine pumps as well but they are not self priming so if you get fuel starve on an aeromotive pump, you need to find a way to get the fuel level above the aeromotive pump so it will prime.

Thanks for the replies guys! I was pretty sure it wasnt the amp, as it was still audible with the sound system turned off when the car was running, but if I hit my button twice with no cluth and turned on everything but the engine...the sound was not there regardless of the sound system being on or off. Just wanted to see if anybody else was getting the same thing to ease my mind a bit and help determine if this was just a normal twerk of the car. Thanks again!
