Default Grinding noise coming from front of engine

I've noticed that a low-pitched grinding noise has started to appear a few minutes after a cold start. I can only hear the noise when the engine is idling and it disappears when up to normal temperature. It seems to be coming from the front left of the engine block. Any idea what this might be? Water pump?
