Red Line oil change

Did you actualy put the nissan ester oil into the car or did you do a free oil change and the dealer claim they put it in there?

If you don't watch them, then they probably put in Valvoline (that's what my dealer has in bulk). My first change I had to make them drain it and replace the new fill with the Nissan Ester Oil. You have to watch the service guys like a hawk if you want things done right.

I went in for my first complimentary oil change and confirmed that the dealer put in the Nissan ester oil.

I looked at the bill.

Really, I talked to the service manager over the phone and asked what kind of oil they'd be using. He said they use Nissan's Ester oil in these engines and that's what they'll be using in my car. When I showed up he reassured me in person (without me even asking) that they'd be using the factory Ester oil. When I looked at my car in the service bay the ester oil was there waiting to go in.

my local dealer here says the nissan ester oil is 11.99 a quart...

i went to O'Reillys auto parts and asked about red line they said its not on their authorized venders list, but red lines website says it is...the store manager is researching it to see if he can order it...

Did you pay for this oil change or was it free?
Becuase the paperwork says ester do you believe that must be true becuase it says so on paper?

What odds are greater, Nissan Ester oil making your engine click OR the dude who put the oil in just put the cheap stuff in?

I read all the stories of negligence on here and i am fearfull that even if the paperwork says Nissan Ester it might not be.

I HOPE i have ester oil in my car, i cant prove it, i am going to probably do one more dealer change and then start doing my own with redline oil.

Because the service manager is an honest guy, and I saw and heard enough to believe I was being treated right. They obviously know I know my ****. I just bought a $40k car from them... why are they going to try and screw me over just to save a few bucks?

They go out of their way to tell me that if I decide not to use the dealership for oil service and do it myself to make sure that I use the right oil.

Why do stories pop up here of peoples oil leaking? Do you think the service manager is dishonest when this happens? They were supposed to tighten it.

What if they were supposed to put ester in? its the same situation.

Why is there youtube videos of service tech's stealing from customers cars?

Where ever there is trust/confidence there will allways be deciet/neglagence.

so basicly your confirmation of ester oil is the service manager word becuase he seems trusty.

I sort of think quite possibly you didnt get ester. Why would your engine click with nissan ester in it?

Mine didnt click with cheap crap in it, and it didnt click with ester in it.
Yours clicks with Nissan Ester but not Redline Ester.

The odds in my brain are telling me you didnt get nissan ester in the first place, but i could be wrong.

And is it even screwing you over if the person who changed your oil didnt even care and grabbed whats closest? You never heard a story of neglagence? I am not even implying they was trying to make money off you, just more like neglagance.

I think you are wrong and are being VERY anal. I already said I talked to the service manager and watched the tech. If I'm confident that's what I got, you should be too.

did my redline oil changed the other day as well
just drove it last nite 70 degree weather(per outside temp gauge)
this is driving normally shifting at 3-3.5k

first thing i notice is that the oil temp takes a while now to go up
on the freeway, oil temps got to about 215 driving/shifting the same way
normally i would see 220-225

as far as engine smoothness/sound..to be honest sounds the same to me compared to the first time i changed oil with nissan ester
i cant tell the difference

i will keep you guys updated once i take it on a longer drive on a hotter day

so far the plan is to change oil every 3000(did the first oil change at 1500*after break in* and now change again with redline at 4000)
i dont track the car but sometimes i have a heavy foot on the freeways
are 3000 intervals too early??

I guess I'm going to go 6-7.5k. I will just keep a close eye on the oil.

I had a 1990 300zx Na for years I used Redline in it, the car had 132,000 miles on it when I just recently sold it (running fine) At one point a couple of years ago I switched to Pennzoil 10-30 and sometime after that I did notice "ticking" sounds comming from the engine. I thought it might have been something else, but now that I have read this post there is a good possibility that my switching to a less expensive oil my have been the difference. as soon as my 370z is broken in, redline is the oil thats going in it.
